Lidl cakes are amazing. Marble cake (chocolate and vanilla) and strawberry cream swiss roll are our favourites. Has anyone tried the vegetable pizzas from the bakery?

We also like the Lidl coleslaw. Disappointed in choice of yoghurts especially for children.

Agree about the yoghurts we buy the big creamy 'bucket' and the kids dish out their own size portion from it into small bowls as part of breakfast. Its decent value £1.79 as it does quite a lot of days and seems to last well even once it opened. Oh and its very yum!

Had Lidl lunch, some bits of bacon misshapes (cooking bacon) £1.50 for a load and we hardly put a dent in it, plenty sliced and put in the freezer, pick the right pack and its dead lean and juicy. In Lidl mini baguettes 19p each.

Lidl dinner tonight, curry - diced lean steak £2.09 (30% off short date) simmered for a couple of hours in a drop of stock to melt in the mouth tender THEN add mushrooms on offer at 41p, their curry sauces are really fantastic 79p really deep flavours, a couple of onions and some rice and some Indian nibbles and who needs a takeaway!

I actually made 4 times quantity in a big pot and most of it goes in the freezer in sealable tubs for other days, 2 mins in the microwave, job done.

Lidl have tidied up their beers a bit, quite an exotic selection now. Bought a few to try. Will report any hits.

Thanks SG, will keep an eye out for the cooking bacon, usually get it from Heron.

I think I saw a same price cooking bacon pack at our new Aldi - looked about the same weight, too. I tend to look for the darker coloured packs as they are mixed and the lighter colour means that it's unsmoked ;)

One of the few products I don't like from Lidl is the Lemon Coriander Hummus from the chiller. Way too sour and no other taste...I'm spoiled there though, because I usually make my own

Agree on the Lemon Hummus, the low fat one is OK, it has a good shot of sesame oil for flavour, but my favourite is the red pepper one, very tasty.

The Aldi Houmous is typically half the price of other supermarkets, and in my experience the product is the same or very, very similar.

Looking forward to trying Lidl Houmous to see how it compares.

The Lidl tiramisu in the Italian promotion is horrid.

I'll look out for that in Aldi and if not take a trip to Lidl. I love bacon and lentil soup so it'll be useful for that as well as quiche etc.
