Tried Lidl's Maitre Jean Pierre Croissants again at the weekend - half price at 61p for 10.

Remarkably cheap, but remarkably poor unfortunately. Toffee-like texture and taste (presumably because of the sugar content) and not remotely like real croissants.

I'd assumed they would have improved over the years - big mistake.

Had Aldi's SS extra large cod in batter last night and was very impressed indeed. Lovely succulent and chunky piece of white cod wrapped in a thin layer of crispy batter. Actually resembled the picture on the box!

Far preferable to the thin, grey unidentifiable fish wrapped in thick, greasy batter you often find in other supermarkets.

    Was that frozen ?

I bought a jam doughnut, apple turnover and a apple and blackberry fruit slice from the Lidl bakery yesterday, all 3 were really nice, the doughnut was really nice at 29p and not like what you get in the other supermarkets.

I had that once and thought it was awful. Mine was grey, unidentifiable and tasteless.

I bought a pack of their frozen sea bass every week, then suddenly it disappeared. That must have been about 3 years ago and it has never returned. Presumably very little profit in it as the price rose considerably at the time in Sainsbobs.
Same sort of thing happened with the barbecue sauce that my son plasters over everything.... So now I buy them in threes from Lidl. They taste the same.

As a stop gap I bought a bottle of branded barbecue sauce from another shop and it cost nearly £2 and didn't taste as nice.

Encouraged by the discussion above, I tried the Chocolate-covered Rice Cakes from Aldi.

They are very nice, and the chocolate (and portion-packaging) keep the rice cakes fresh & crisp. In fact, they are quite moreish.

Personally, I think they are too sweet, and a Plain Chocolate version would probably be nicer. But that's just my taste.

I bought the Slumberdown 'Feels like Down' pillows on special at £6.99 from Aldi last week. Lovely! not sure it feels like real down, but they are superbly comfortable. and I had priced them in Agros the week before and they were £12.99 so a considerable saving.

Snap! I bought a pair too and agree they are really comfortable. Wishing I had bought 2 pairs and hoping they have some left when we go again on Thursday.
