I don't eat cereal but hubby has the bran flakes and prefers them but I think there is a lot of sugar in them.
I always go once a month to stock up on the things I mentioned and also get smoked salmon, bagels and croissants from there. I also used to love their choc chip brioche but it was FAR too nice, I had to stop!!
I can get a decent amount from the edges of the shop but not the middle (apart from bottled water)!
As I say, i really did enjoy it when it first opened but things seem to have gone downhill. I believe it all depends on your store. I do like their Christmas goodies, in particular, the stollen - but even that went mouldy in its packet last yr before it was opened.
I actually think the stuff in aldi has improved over the years, certainly in my local shop. What impresses me the most about aldi is that you go through the checkout quickly and with nil fuss, having recently gone to asda and witnessed the cashier have a ten minute chat with the person in front, can get ridiculous in other stores.
I can actually get some stuff that aldi sells or very close to it cheaper in home bargains, in my town both shops are within a 30 second walk of one another. Aldi sell a Pimms copy for 5.99, HB do it for 4.99. Aldi sell 500ml sparkling spring water for 29p, HB do it for 19p or 5 for a quid and Ive found some things that arent identical but very similar to aldi products, again cheaper in home bargains. I dont think theres lots of home bargains down south, more up north and in Scotland but its handy having the two shops close together as you can compare prices.
I dont really eat microwaved foods these days but when I did, I always preferred aldi to lidl stuff.
Also think aldi wine is much preferable to lidls stuff although lidl champagne apparently did very well in a blind taste test a few years back, tried to get some but it was sold out.0 -
Not too sure I posted this or not. Wasn't impressed with Aldi's Toad In The Hole (frozen).0

Been to ALDI today and got tons of stuff, inc gorgeous flowers, wine for presents, as well as a full shop for £44:j:j
Also picked up a small bag of dried dog food, and my really fussy dogs wolfed (pardon the pun) it down:D"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Bought a pack of 4 veggie burgers and 4 nut cutlets, £1.49 each, both also suitable for vegans.
That and a bottle of amaretto 70cl for £6.49, never tried it before, Im off wine and its cheaper and less alcoholic than gin by a mile so thought it would do.0 -

Last time I was in I noticed they had started doing veggie burgers and cutlets. I didn't buy but was almost tempted! Have you tried them and if so how do you rate them?"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Tried the burgers, not the cutlets yet, they were lovely.0 -
Done 2 weekly shops so far at Aldi and am pretty impressed!
This week, I'm particularly rating their jaffa cake equivalent (bigger bits of Jaffa!) and the fresh carrot and coriander soup.OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
I've always loved McVities digestives but since trying the Lidl ones at 30p I much prefer them.0
