  • Has anyone tried Lidl's own brand ice cream that's a dead ringer for Ben and Jerrys? I think it's called 'Master of Taste'.
I saw it while I was doing my shopping tonight, they had chocolate brownie and cookie dough flavours for £1.99 a tub. They also had genuine Ben and Jerrys on offer at £2.49 a tub and I spent ages debating whether to shell out the extra 50p or take a gamble on the Lidl version.
  • We like the salmon fillets, goats cheese, Baron wine, smoked streaky bacon, eggs, ostrich steaks and the 99p three cheese frozen pizza.

Hated the beef gravy granules but haven't bought them for years so may have improved but they used to look like wallpaper paste.

Were these from Aldi or Lidl? Then we all know where to look.

    Baron Wine - probably Aldi.

I think the 99p Three Cheese Pizza is now the 79p Four Cheese Pizza. That's a 65% improvement in cost per cheese. :)

I thought the Baron red wine was foul. I am no connossieur of wine but would rather pay a bit more for something drinkable.

Just interested to know if anyone has tried the Aldi version of Jaegerbomb drink and it is any good? Thanks

Yeah. I've had a bottle. It's not exactly the same as Jaeger but if you'e doing it as icey cold shots it's ok - and so much cheaper that I personally could cope with the difference in taste :)

My mum calls the Baron wine Baron Hard Up! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I agree with the foulness of this wine. I rather pay 50-£1 more for La Tinta Shiraz, Toro Loco Tempranillo or the Kooliburra Shiraz.

Talking of wine, I'm a huge fan of the Aldi Cremant du Jura. It's a sparking chardonnay:lovely and crisp and not too sweet. It's not cheap (£7.29?) but I think it makes a lovely weekend treat.
