I went especially for a bottle after seeing it in the Special Buys leaflet. I came out empty handed. Either they had sold it all the day it came on Special or didn't have any in the first place! I tried later in the week and still none.

I would have asked at the till if no other store attendant was to find, although busy they are always friendly.

Where did you look for it? It wasn't with the alcohol but was in one of the specials crates with other bits and pieces on Saturday. I almost missed it as wasn't particularly looking for it, it caught my eye when I was looking at the Ainsley Harriot meal packs. There were several dozen bottles so don't anticipate selling out. I'm going back for more tomorrow :D
  • I looked in the specials area first then in the alcohol aisle. I will try again tomorrow!

Why? My parents were both Dr's and I can tell you my mum and dad would have shopped at Aldi. However neither particularly liked seeing patients outside of work hours as some people didn't understand that Dr's have their own life and don't want to hold a consultation in the middle of the newsagents! If a shop sells quality at a competitive price it is good sense to shop there.

That's a far more likely explanation. Also applies to teachers, solicitors, dentists and other professionals who prefer to keep their personal lives separate from their professional lives.

Anyway, isn't Waitrose the preferred place for socialising? :D

I can see that. Fortunately I never lived so close to my workplace that I needed to do my main shop in the immediate area. Popping into a local shop always took forever as I kept bumping into people I knew and as patchwork cat said being asked for advice.

It could be that I misread the ladies expression, though it does make sense that being a teacher, my doctors wife may have been concerned about meeting pupils or parents out of hours. None the less a marvellous opportunity to integrate with the locals.
See now why places like Waitrose and Harrods exist but what a price to pay.
