Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

Soupreme Cream of Tomato Soup 39p in Aldi after reading recommendations on this forum about the above soup I bought a few tins and I just tried my first one and it was gorgeous if not better than Heinz it was equally as good at half the price so thanks to the forum.
Wow as one who has never ventured beyond Heinz tomato soup (only one I ever buy) this is a fantastic recommendation. Thank you0 -
Also, the Aldi Tomato, Basil & Crème fraîche soup is very nice. It is a bit more expensive (76p, I think) but it is approaching the quality of a chilled soup in a carton.
Unfortunately, the Chunky Lamb & Vegetable soup has been re-formulated, and is no longer low in salt.0 -
As I've posted before, the Pea and Ham in that range is pretty poor (one of Aldi's few failures, IMNSHO). Waitrose's is far better and worth the extra cost. In fact, ISTR even the new Crosse & Blackwell P&H is better than Aldi's.0

Just came back from Lidl Clapham Junction and they put in a checkout for baskets only with 3 tills. Maybe they will roll this out nation wide...0

New price reductions in Aldi...
Granola £1.45
Low-low frozen ready meals 69p (assume this is clearance)
Standard tins of soup 39p
Most non-chilled fruit juice products (reduced by 10-20p, prices vary).0 -

Probably balances off the 10p a pack on the Moser Roth chocolate!:(0 -
Don't rate Aldi's Oaties biscuits. Not sweet enough or crumbly enough or oaty enough. Just taste rather bland like cardboard. Disappointed.0

Aldi's fig rolls - I hadn't bought fig rolls in years as the filling got meaner and the biscuit harder. But, these take me back to my childhood. lovely soft biscuit that melts in the mouth and I am sure I don't remember as much tasty filling as these have. my GS1 and GS2 tried them - and finished off the packet! after turning their noses up and saying 'Fig Rolls - oh gross'!0

Choc prices will be going up everywhere, a world market issue. (Except maybe the chocolates which aren't chocolates any longer,)
Does anyone know if there is still an offer on Basmati Rice in either? I might have missed the 10 kilo bags at Lidl the other week...First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Don't know if these have been mentioned before, but I've had the Milbona fat free yoghurts this week from Lidl, lemon cheesecake, mint with chocolate sprinkles and orange with chocolate sprinkles and they have all been really nice, and taste no different to me than other more expensive brands0
