Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

Against all expectations, Aldi's cheap (£11 something) champagne, Veuve Monsigny Brut is actually quite drinkable, if a little sweet. Definitely worth a try for a minor celebration!0

Actually I am NOT one of the persons who had my education pass me by.
I actually find that offensive.
Ps. It's "practice" NOT "practise" .
I thought it was offensive too, but had to giggle at the spelling mistake, I love it when someone is trying to be clever and then let themselves down :rotfl:Slimming World at target0 -

I'd recommend the Aldi Cremant sparling Chardonnay at (I think) £7.29. It's very dry and pleasant and perfect for a minor celebration (like reaching Friday night;)).Hmmm it's a bit strange this is,even the shelf place for puree seems to have gone. Interesting to see Aldi there too.
I asked about this and apparently there's been a supplier issue which has been sorted to tomato puree should reappear soon (hopefully not at inflated price).
I'm another who loathes the practice of adulterating names of supermarkets. I've heard the thing about the filter but what makes me cringe is that there might be people out there who actually say I'm off to Sainsbobs or Morries to do my shopping. Ugh!!
I use the word carp in RL, it's because stress always brings on my dyslexic tendencies.;)0 -
Same here. 90% from Aldi and the rest from Waitrose - which is, as you say, often cheaper for those less mainstream items than Tesco. The free coffee and £1.60 newspaper are nice little bonuses too, along with the greatly enhanced shopping experience and a very social meeting place.
Sorry to break the news, but the free coffee is to be ended. As expected it proved too popular with those wanting to socialsie rather than shop!0 -
Any views on the permanent hair colour? I'm tempted to try as its good value but would like to see how others have found it (I would be the dark brown) and how long it lasts! Also if you have long hair is one enough? Thanks0

Does anyone know much of the reliability of the Lidl bakery items? I had been buying sesame seed burger buns and haven't managed to get any in the last two weeks. The pre packed ones are doughy and taste horrid.0

if you mean the Aldi one - then I have tried the light brown one. its good - at least as good as other 'home dyes'. easy to use and I wasn't 'allergic' to it. says something as I cant use some brands as I am allergic to them. it lasted well, but faded after a couple of months (which wasn't a bad thing as it made roots less noticeable). I would buy it again.
my hair is quite fine and I found there was far too much product - so if you have shoulder length hair there is ample. may even do mid back length hair if it isn't too thick.0 -

Are you talking about fresh bread or pre-packed?
The fresh bread is lovely and so much cheaper than the local T, croissants for example are almost half the price from up the road.
Occasionally we have the thick slice 47 p pre-packed loaf and it's absolutely fine, a thick white sliced loaf.

Yes, I use the very dark brown one (unfortunately they don't do black) and it's very good value for money. I use it more as a root touch up so despite having long hair a box will give me two applications.
I have actually wondered whether it's Nice N Easy in a re-branded box0 -
