Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

I happened to read some of new literature Lidl is using to promote itself about how it saves money by more economical closed chiller cabinets and it came back to mind when I was doing a top-up shop in my local Sainsburys this week, It was freezing cold in chilled food aisles - how much cold air is being blasted out and wasted probably because they think they will lose sales if customers have to make the effort to open a door to reach their goods.

Anyone had trouble getting tomato puree at Lidl ? None to be had at mine for 2 weeks now.

I was pleased to see today that Aldi have extended the varieties available in the 4 pack of Optifit Active fat-free yogurts. Today I got vanilla and I also noticed a new cherry variety too.

Is the Cherry flavour new? I've been buying it for quite a few weeks. It's very nice. Lots of fruit.

None to be found in our Lidl yesterday - I'm glad I saw this as we have not long been shopping there and we thought it was a bit odd !

None at Aldi this week either.

Hmmm it's a bit strange this is,even the shelf place for puree seems to have gone. Interesting to see Aldi there too.

I agree with you Make-it-. I always find the cold isle in my Sainsburys's very cold.

It's more noticeable I noticed during the late Autumn and Winter.

And it's not just cold, it's uncomfortable cold. Like a bad case of frost bite cold. You just don't want to be along theses isles too long.

To be honest, it's warmer outside when there's 12 inches of snow on the ground. :snow_grin

From Aldi, it's the Brooklea 450g yogurt - Mango, Papaya & Passionfruit flavour. Better than what I thought it would be. As I'm not really a yogurt eating person

Latest Aldi price reduction: 500g Low Fat Greek Style yogurt - 75p

And thanks to whoever recommended the Chocolate & Fudge Benefit bars - delicious and my Aldi has lots.
