    I've been Money Tipped!
No, not in wine and spirit aisle. When I got mine they were down the centre aisle where all the Christmas stuff was (other side to puds, mince pies, etc) I've forgotten the price but I think about £3.99 per box of 10. Not been in since Christmas so don't know if they are still selling them. Made a lovely coffee, with the addition of some cream of course!

Thanks very much, I will look out for them when I pop in later.

Speaking of shopping, I went into Lidl yesterday, late morning, couldn't believe how dead it was, as was Tesco, Iceland, Home Bargains etc! They all said they had been really quiet the day before too. The staff in Iceland were cleaning the shelves they were so quite. They all said they thought people had bought enough stuff earlier in the break and were expecting shoppers in today when they had fresh stock in.

Oooooh how lovely to be thought of - even if it was in connection with fudge!!! I added quite a few packs to the hampers I did as gifts at Xmas but have now had mine - I can't just eat one piece either, once the pack is open that's it! I really need to lose weight or I won't fit into the tiny office I work in! hmm, now whats for brek?

I've been following the 'under 50p' thread and it serves as a reminder that there are bargains everywhere if you've got the time to look - but that's where the problem lies. I adore Aldi not just for the prices but the different ranges of foods you can get and the lack of choice which is great. But the under 50p thread shows that there are still masses and masses of good deals at the other supermarkets too. As I live in a very rural area, there aren't any of the biggies anywhere worth spending petrol on.

Aldi crunchy peanut butter (delish) on toast I think!

I read this thread earlier and thought I'd give Aldi a go to see if it really is cheaper than the main 4... I got to the till and when the girl told me my items came to £53 I was shocked at how expensive it was....luckily I remembered someone saying you should always check your receipt as items get made up by the tills...sure enough I found a £15 golf jumper on the receipt!!
So, all in all I was very pleased at the cost of my shopping but not so happy that items get mistakenly added on so easily!

Just tried one of the Harvest Moon 70 cal bars (2 for a B on Slimming World) and it was lovely! Felt much denser than an Alpen Light so I'm definitely a convert to those!!
If my words are missing letters then please excuse me....my keyboard is a tad dodgy!!
  • I am about to embark on slimming world and picked up those bars you mentioned, the fruit and veg is really good as is the british fresh chicken. I am a convert recently and i LOVE ALDI jelly beans...will have to cut down on those, they are just like the 'real' flavoured ones but at 79p!

Their pretend Muller Lights - Brroklea Light are A.mazing! They aren't syn free (the mango and passion fruit one I had was 1.5) but it didn't taste like a diet yogurt at all. In fact, it tasted like...yogurt! I will definitely be using my syns on these and they are only 30p.
I'll avoid the jelly beans...sounds like I'd like them too much!

  • I have always bought most of my cooked meats from Aldi but this week I tried the Polish meat for the first time. I will certainly buy again it's really tasty! The varieties I got were Sopocka Loin (smoked pork loin) and Sliced Wiejska (a kind of smoked pork sausage). Both 99p. I don't know if this is available in all Aldi branches or just areas with a sizeable Polish community (as we have).

This really is becoming a serious issue at Aldi - yet I've never found it happen at Lidl.

If they don't sort this out, some people might start thinking it's a deliberate attempt at fraud............:(

If they would only slow down a bit at the checkouts it would prevent it, as apparently sometimes two barcodes merge due to the speed. It probably doesn't happen any more than at other supermarkets though.

I think it does. It seems to be a problem specific to Aldi - Lidl are also fast, but you don't get these 'phantom' items there.

All down to the bonus system, with staff being targetted for till speed.
