Aldi or Lidl? And if they are horrible who is eating them?
Sorry, Aldi. No idea who's eating them, not me!! We tried them boiled and they were disgusting, I used the rest to make a soup and it wasn't much better.. don't understand how they can sell them!
Sassyone, I buy most of my shopping @ Aldi and some things are very good quality, and half the price than any other supermarket.. I've never found the shop particulary dirty...0 -
I agree re the peas in Aldi: they were very starchy, used the rest in soup & thought this was ok. That's all I would buy them for in the future. However there are lots of other good things there. Their tinned Sweet Harvest tomatoes are the best. I think their wines are good quality for the price, especially the Macon Villages white ( a white Burgundy for £4..99 ! lovely). I also bought the Rosso Italiano (£2.99) for cooking & ended up drinking it...... was really nice & excellent value. Cheese is also good value. Cereals are also good value / quality & their Fruit & Fibre seems much less sweet than the Sains / Tesco varieties.
I think Aldi is like everywhere else, you have to try things & also look at quantity / quality v price.
Hope this helps, interested to see other comments / recommendations.0 -

We always have the former, and switched to them because they were pretty much indistinguishable from Birds Eye peas. I've not tried the latter, and I don't really understand why they have them since they're only about 1% cheaper.Stompa0 -

I always buy Lidl frozen peas. They are small, tender and consistently good.0 -
My local has started stocking a lot more "Specially Selected" items. Among these is a range of Scottish cheeses and I can recommend the Carnegie Brie for those who like French Brie de Meaux. It's not a really a bargain at £1.75 for 250g compared to 99p for their standard brie but it is worth it.0
