Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

...whereas in Aldi I always find they're all already very yellow. My bananas from Tesco easily last over a week once they're in the fruit bowl, the Aldi ones just weren't lasting the same.
FWIW my Aldi bananas have always lasted a week or so in a fruit bowl, and they still do. Mind you, I do deliberately pick the greenish ones.Stompa0 -
My parents buy bananas and keep them in a Lakeland stayfresh bag for fruit and veg. A week after buying them, they are still edible to eat. Whereas normally you need to eat them within 4 days of buying. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

"I bought some milk / Bananas / Crystal Meth in Aldi and it went off before it was supposed to, This is a disgrace..."
"Well I often buy milk / Bananas / Crystal Meth in Aldi and it's fine. Do you keep yours under your sunbed? I always store mine in the fridge..."
Bored of this now, it's been done to death. Please can we get back to recommending good or bad buys from Lidl or Aldi? Thanks.0 -
Aldi Gnocchi - 65p for 500g
Sainsbury's Gnocchi - £1.75 for 500g0 -
I buy a few things from Aldi/Lidl but there is not a chance I could buy a weekly shop from these with their bland, tastless foodstuffs and cheapo things like washing up liquid which is a false economy.
I'm always amazed to see shoppers with bulging trollys of rubbish in these stores.0 -

Do you have any specific good or bad buys, as per the thread title?0 -

Been into Aldi today and noticed that the tinned rice pudding has shrunk in size, but think the price is still the sameYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Yes, good buys- any branded stuff that happens to be cheaper at any one time at Aldi or Lidl compared to the large supermarkets.
I also really like Lidl's Rowan Hill white bread rolls and muffins.
Bad buys- most everything else I have bought and never again.
I believe people are being conned.
For example, I tried Lidl (or Aldi's) own brand weetabix type cereal and it was disgusting, like cardboard, absolutely tasteless mulch that stuck to the roof of my mouth.
However, the interesting thing was that the discounted retailer's weetabix was the same yellow branding, the same design of the word "Weetabix" but called something like "weetaflakes," clearly designed to replica Nestle Weetabix.
Why?
To fool people's subconcious that they are seemingly getting a trusted brand of excellent quality whereas in reality they are substituting the very basic of what food is about-taste-all to save a few pence.0 -

I had to use twice as much per wash of the cheapo washing up liquid to get any soapy substance whereas I just need to use literally a drop of Fairy.
Hence, got through the cheapo liquid in no time whereas Fairy will last much longer.
Quality v price I dare say Fairy won out, false economy.
Lidl's own brand pizza, floppy, soggy muck despite heating it for the required time, took one bite and binned it.
Aldi cheddar cheese was like rubber.
Even my cats turn their noses up at their pet food.
Plenty of others too and I dare not try much else unless it's a good brand from there.0
