I have gone right off Aldi in the last couple of months - firstly, over 5 weeks we bought a bag of sweet potatoes every week, they went soft the day after buying them even though being stored on a shelf in a dark cupbard. Then, they got rid of the chocolate digestives??!!
Next, there was a lump of plastic floating in one of their tins of tomato soup, we complained and heard nothing back and finally, we bought some refridgerated chicken breasts on Monday at over £6 (more expensive that tescos) and upon opening the pack (the same day) they absolutely smelt rotten, the whole kitchen stunk and they had 5 days on the Use by date.

We're now giving them a wide berth and we've gone back to tescos.

I bought and was happy with the following: a bag of frozen curly fries, strawberries, screwballs, low fat red fruits yogurts, village bakery thick white bread, a bottle of amaretto. I also bought but not yet tried: pork medallions, Aldis own version of Doritos and Rhubarb and Custard sugar free sweets.

Was really pleased with what I have tried so far, even introduced a friend to Aldi as well and she was quite happy with the few things she bought.

Whatever. It's the KFC taste that I love and the stuff in the shops that I've tried isn't anywhere close.

I'm sure Lidl sell a bucket that looks like a direct KFC copy so I might try that but I'm not holding out much hope.

Have you tried looking at The Takeaway Secret cookbook?

I haven't done the KFC style chicken in it, but other recipes I've tried are pretty good.

The "Chunky" version of these are particulary good. A bit more expensive than the normal version , but worth it in my opinion
I have had these sitting in my freezer for a few weeks now. I can take them or leave them, in fact will probably serve them up en-masse with drinks next weekend to release some much needed space. They need a dash of salt and a lot of vinegar.

I much prefer fried chips - not that I ever buy or make them.

I think i have figured out why the Carrots in Aldi only last 2/3 days before they go slimy.Went to Aldi Thursday and no way was i ever buying their carrots again but just went to check them out and they was already soaking wet and going slimy but worse was they must have been stored in a freezer as they were nearly rock hard and was literally defrosting in the shop!
Told a member of staff and he said he would remove them but they were still on the shelf when i was leaving.

That was the same in my Aldi too this week. I managed to find some drier ones in the crate below. Generally, I find if I bring them home and take them out of the bag and let them dry before storing then they're fine.

The fruit and veg in Aldi has really gone downhill.
Bought peaches at the weekend, cut into one today to find two alive bugs inside, and it rotten. Made me feel quite sick, and glad I hadn't just bitten into it!
