Hmmmm.......just wondering what the impact (if anything) will be of Sainsbury bringing back the old Netto name to the low-cost sector to compete with Aldi and Lidl.
And wondering if this will soon be a "Good and bad buys from Aldi, Lidl and Netto" thread?0 -

It was indeed - but I bet the Sainsbury/Netto alliance will produce very different shops from the old Netto that gave up in the UK.0 -
lmao - people will NOT forget how awful NETTO was. and to start up again a failed brand is a mistake sainsbobs will regret. What are they thinking of? its a stupid idea! like Ford Rebranding themselves Sinclair!0

Aldi, Netto, Lidl, Plus - in Germany all the same league of messy discount shops...here I'd rate Lidl best, then Aldi - have not seen a Netto anywhere in Scotland. Does anyone remember Quicksave?? I remember those giant jars of honey for a pound....

Netto was only in England IIRC. They were very rare in London. I visited one once and found it confusing sompared with Aldi or Lidl. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I love the liver pate from Lidls in a small rectangular tub, I think its belgian and its so much cheaper than from other supermarkets.Delish on crisbreads with sliced tomato or and cucumber on top.I made some for Dd during the week for lunch and she is a bit sniffy about lidl's stuff so I didn't tell her where it was from and she thought it was M&S's pate
:):) Long-dated so next time I will get a couple as they keep well un-opened in the fridge

Netto weren't that rare in London, or rather there were a lot in the greater London area but concentrated in various boroughs.

Got to say I love the Aldi hair dye! I have a mid blonde hair naturally but prefer to lighten or highlight it either with a caramel or light blonde. I've not noticed any problems with the Aldi dye and swear it's the same as Schwarzkopf. That said, I always make sure to use something like Aussie 3 minute miracle, or their miracle hair insurance as I've been dying my hair for too long to remember.

Hi again - I looked but can't find the post on Aldi peas from a few days ago - I found in our local store 2 different packets of peas:
1 kg at 99p and
907 g (which is 2 pounds, isn't it?) at 85p which looked like a value/basics/essentials packaging
maybe they have had both from different suppliers for some time? Worth keeping an eye if they discontinue the 1 kg bags as someone suggested.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0
