    1 kg at 99p and 907 g (which is 2 pounds, isn't it?) at 85p which looked like a value/basics/essentials packaging

maybe they have had both from different suppliers for some time?
Yes, they've had both for years. However, in our store the (Four Seasons) 1kg/99p pack has recently changed to 900g/95p.

From what I've read the Essentials ones are horrible, so best avoided (though I've never tried them myself).

Netto weren't that rare in London, or rather there were a lot in the greater London area but concentrated in various boroughs.

Sarf of the river there was one in Mitcham next to the Lidl, but it didn't last very long. SW London seemed like a desert for discounters.

All I could remember about Netto was their black cherry yoghurt - 9p a pot in 2003. They were bloody lovely! My student digs were 1.5 miles away from Netto and walked every 8-10 days to buy a tray of 24 costing £2.16 and I had 2-3 post a day.

lmao - people will NOT forget how awful NETTO was. and to start up again a failed brand is a mistake sainsbobs will regret. What are they thinking of? its a stupid idea! like Ford Rebranding themselves Sinclair!
I have never graced a Netto store - but will comment that Skoda has turned its image round....as have Aldi and Lidl. All are or perfectly socially acceptable.

Not that way in their home country, Denmark:

I don't know why they went the way they did in the UK, but I'm very sure they won't be that way this time. As someone said, doing a Skoda is perfectly feasible.

Just bought six packs of part baked rolls for the freezer (after trying them for the first time yesterday)

Will let you know how they were when we try them next week.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
