a quick update on Aldi's catfood pouches - I obviously didn't have my glasses on in the shop. The senior pouches have 4 varietes in the box, so will definitely buy those again even if not on offer

Bought some porridge oats (wholegrain rolled oats) today from Lidl to try - 39p I think for 500g. Looks like a small bag of flour. lol
Also from Lidl some Redbush teabags (99p for 40) for hubby to try.

This comparison only makes sense if you compare current prices and not prices from weeks/months ago. I can only speak for the stuff I buy, but the prices I quoted are the same in Lidl and Aldi right now. And there is a difference in Tuna Chunks and Flakes, Chunks are 75p in both stores.

I've shopped at Aldi now for about 18 months and have have kept a record of the price changes of about 300 items I've bought, (I've left out the fruit & veg as these can change week to week) these aren't, of course, all their price changes, just the ones I buy, just thought some of you might find it of interest. The first price is what it cost when I first bought the item followed by the price now. Only 5 of the items have gone up in price.

my very fussy Persian cat would only eat Webbox treat sticks - tried the other brands it was a no no - the Aldi version? oh he LOVES THEM! I cant break the bits off fast enough.
its over a pound for six webox sticks - you get ten from Aldi for I think its 89p but cant find receipt so I could be wrong.

I also bought the beef roasting joint - thinking it was going to be cheap cut and need long slow cooking I double wrapped it in foil and roasted it at gas 4 for two and half hours (my lot like their beef very very well done), and it was gorgeous. sliced like a dream, was very tasty and the gravy it made...............stupendous. it cost £8 and fed 6 for sunday lunch today and I have half left!

They even had paneer for £1.39. Never seen it that cheap.
What size (g)? Am trying to work out whether its cheaper to buy or make a load out of 4 pints of milk (£1).

pianoman, great work and interesting reading. Some of the reductions are not massive, but they are reductions.

225 g. It was in the fridge with the weekly offers. Don't think it will be regularly stocked.

Was interested in the June grocery challenge on the OS board. Someone had done an Aldi shop that came to £60. Then did a comparison shop using tesco online with their own brand alternatives. The tesco shop would have been £92.

Sadly I have to report a bad buy from Aldi :( admittedly not something I'd say very often. We've been using the Magnum, Good Housekeeping Approved, washing up liquid for ages and indeed found it comparable to Fairy so when we noticed the larger bottle of Magnum washing up liquid we assumed it was the same stuff just in a bigger bottle (although I did question the lack of the GHK logo on the bottle) Sadly not true. This stuff is like watered down cheap stuff with very little foaming. We didn't like it at all and have gone back to the smaller bottles. Lesson learned :(
