Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

I wonder if the milk issue is store specific?
We've been buying Aldi milk for many years now (the 4 pinters), and I don't recall ever having to throw any away.
I can second this ive never had a problem with the fresh milk either in fact I had to throw away a full carton of fresh milk away last week ,but not because it had gone off it hadnt even been opened, but I buy it for my daughter and she was going on holiday so it didnt get used, it was 8 days past the sell by date but to my surprise when I opened it and poured it down the sink (standing back in anticipation of the smell that was about to hit me) it hadnt even gone off Nope no smell no lumps and still as fresh, if it wasnt for the fact that I am currently on chemo thus low immune system I probably would have drank it and not chucked it but couldnt take the risk, so maybe your fridge settings need tweeking up to keep the milk cold enough to prevent it turning prematurely.

Today's the day of the Mirror voucher. Go buy a newspaper or 2 if you do larger shops there.
If someone could post the other money off coupons with it, that'd be helpful.

£5 off £45 spend, valid until Thurs 5 June 2014
Other vouchers, all valid until 5 June...
50% off...

both in one loaf, now 34p
sandwich thins, now 37p
multigrain hoops cereal, now 59p

I suspect it has more to do with the cool chain to individual stores and storage within those stores than fridge temperatures. Mine's at the correct 5 degrees, but Aldi milk is still a problem. No other milk ever is - just Aldi milk.
They seem to have reduced the length of the 'use by' dates lately to just 6 or 7 days (it was 10 or 11) so maybe that's their way of getting round the problem.
Not very helpful, though if you shop infrequently - I now tend to get the milk from somewhere with a longer date on it.0 -
Lidl's milk has always been fine and lasts over the date usually (unless we forget to put it in the fridge in summer). I don't recall problems with Aldi's but it's been a while as their bottles here are smaller.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

There's a rumour that Aldi will start organic milk soon. Their marketing people must have realised how many Waitrose exiles have been visiting.0

Today I bought a big box of Lidl's Red Label tea, £1.99 for 160 bags. Its fine, but not as nice as the Knightsbridge breakfast tea. Waiting for the next 1/2 price offer on it!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I've never had an issue with their milk ? I buy 4 pints every Sunday and this lasts me a week.0

Unless I am imagining things I think I've seen organic semi skimmed in my local Aldi for some time.0

Aldi has officially stopped being cheaper for me.
It's all the extras which suck me in.
Bought a new bread maker and silicon cake case today. £35 I'd not have spent in Tesco.
The loaf I made tonight was lovely though...Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
