Jam doughnuts from Lidls in store bakery...lighter than air, runny jam inside. 29p a pop.

More expensive than Tesco, granted, but we've gone off Tesco doughnuts since they changed the packaging.
We went off Tesco when they started adding horse to things. :)
  • Just spotted on FB that in this Thursday's Daily Mirror there will be a £5 off voucher when you spend £40.00 in Aldi

    Happy shopping!

Thanks I will give this way a try, I always used to add cold milk or cream before I mashed the potatoes so maybe thats where I was going wrong

After draining pop back on the low heat add the butter and milk/cream mash, then stir as if beating with either the masher or wooden spoon as underpressure suggested, I find I get a lovely creamy mash that way.

Alternatively, just use a decent quality stick blender. You can produce anything from lumpy mash to a smooth puree in moments. No need for a doctoral thesis!

Tesco didn't add horse to anything, they bought things that another company had added horse to.:p
The horsemeat scandal has also provided a boost for small independent butchers – 7% of shoppers say they are using high-street butchers more than before – while the survey shows that Tesco was the supermarket most damaged, with one-in-five adults saying they now regarded the UK's biggest retailer less favourably. Tesco and Aldi had the biggest problems with contaminated products, and Tesco took out full page newspaper adverts to apologise to their shoppers.
  • Love most of what I've tried from Aldi, especially the Moser chocolate. 2 litres of OJ and sour cherry jam - luckily I drive past one on the way home from work, so don't need to make a special trip.
Thing is with Aldi, the prices are so good that it won't hit your wallet to try things out. I always tot up the total price on a calculator though as the checkouts are manic and they sometimes put through items twice.

Then, if you intend to spend over £40, make sure you pick up the Daily Mirror and get the cashier to stop scanning at every £40 interval so you can pay and use the coupons.

And if you use the money off coupons with the £5 put the couponed items at the front of the conveyor.

No one told me on my first shop in Aldi to put the items straight in the trolley, then bag up on the shelf at the rear of the checkout. Much easier.

And don;t forget you can only pay with cash or DEBIT card. Credit cards not allowed ;)

    Viva la revolution!

I think that depends where you are.

No problem using credit cards in my area (South Wales).
