If it's the serum in the glass bottle I've had a problem with the pump ever since it came on the market. Could never use it all up. Great if they're going to sort it.

Yes it is the serum in the ground glass bottle. I stand the bottle on its head, propped up and use the tube from the top as a sort of spatula to get it all out.
I'm not wholly sure what the issue was, but I do have the fact that it's being dealt with.
I love that the bottle is just like that of products costing five times the price, beautiful ground glass that is quite decorative.

  • Never had a problem with Aldi fresh meat. Bought one of their honey glazed gammon joints and it was lovely.

  • I have had a problem with their chicken once and that was because I had left it until the best before date to cook it! It is best to use it when it is fresh e.g. within a couple of days of purchase.

What are people's opinion on the fresh meat at Aldi, noticed their chicken breasts are much cheaper than Asda and Tesco, what's the quality like?

I buy all my chicken from Aldi, not often now a whole chicken since widowed, but the chicken thighs are my favourite for curry etc 1-99 a pack sold by weight I look for the packs of 5 as you get a good size thigh, the more in the pack the smaller the thigh..lol.

I also buy the legs for a roast dinner, I think they are 1-29 now 2 in the pack, the breast are very nice but as you must have realised I prefer darker meat, more flavour in my opinion.
Do I need it or just want it.

Can't speak for Asda, but we long since ditched Tesco meat, because it was generally of poor quality, and switched to Waitrose.

Aldi meat has been just fine - almost on a par with Waitrose, I'd say, but at much lower prices.

Thanks for all the positive comments regarding the meat, especially the chicken.

We use and enjoy many of the Aldi meats. The fr chicken is especially good. I found the lamb (as a roast) rather fatty, but it may have been a cheap cut. It was lovely in smaller portions, as leftovers though.

  • My only complaint with Aldi's Indian meal for 2 is the dish the curries are in. It's one dish with two compartments. I live alone and obviously don't have both curries the same day. Other supermarket's curry bags have the curries in separate dishes.

As others have said cut it down the middle or transfer it to a air tight plastic box.

All meat from Aldi is far far superior to anything any of the supermarkets sell, their 21 day matured topside for around a tenner a kilo is unbeatable!

With lamb it depends on which cut you buy, there is no russian roulette about it, you buy whatever you want, a leg will always have less fat than a shoulder or breast, with chops you can cut it off if you wish, leg steaks are the best but are highly priced everywhere. What you are saying is similar to saying something like "my chicken was really dry but I do not know if it was a breat or a wing", does not happen.........

  • Agreed, I bought one last weekend and have made 2 curries, 4 lots of soup, 4 butties out of it and still have 1 breast and 2 legs left

Oh please, I smell the usual MSE bull%hit here, I bought a chicken and made 400 meals out of 1 breast, whatever!

Just had some of the Lidl steak mince on 2 for £5.

It was very good, hardly any fat.

Aldi tuna - alright, little salty and flakes smaller than normal, but very edible for the price.

Aldi baked beans - not a fan. Sauce is a little off flavour for us. DD noticed the brand had changed by taste alone.

Mine seem to like the tuna chucks from Aldi, seen some of the flakes in there the other day not sure what they are like?

On mince I have a pet hate for it, where ever I get it from I always go for whatever premium one they have and am always disappointed, funny smell almost offaly when cooking, strange amount of liquid seeping from it in the pan, the best I found was Tesco Finest Welsh Mince Steak and even that could be a bit ropey and then I am always the one that find the 1 piece of gristle as well, yuk yuk yuk pute me right of. On Friday I noticed Aldi were selling 21 day matured frying steak for £2.99 for 400 grammes, I bought 2 got them home and shoved them in the Magimix with blade and voila top quality mince, made the best cottage pie with it I have ever had so in future this will be my source of mince :)

  • In my local store they are just after the cereals in amongst the crackers and breadsticks, hope you find them - I love them xx

Got them last week along with a packet of the chocolate ones, they are very very nice, with the savoury taste of the toasted rice and the sweet topping, mmmmmmmmmmmm children love them as well.

Don't normally shop in Aldi as I'm a Lidl fan but was in there for something on offer the other week, can't remember what.

Anyway, I asked about instant mash, which I usually buy in Lidl. I know it's not to everyone's taste but I live alone and it's a faff to make mash for one, and I quite like the Lidl brand. Anyway to get to the point turns out Aldi don't sell instant but they do sell frozen mash. It's sort of in small cylindrical portions so you can use as much as you like and keep the rest.

It was really nice. Afraid I can't remember how much I paid for it but it was cheap. I have a vague recollection it may have been about 69p for a bag. Highly recommended

It is great you have found this product and pleased with it, everyone is obviously different but please, how much of a "faff" can it be to throw a couple of potatoes in some water or a steamer? Hardly labour intensive is it?
