Just opened a bar of Dairyfine Mint Creme I got for Xmas, wow I forgot just how good it is, like a giant After Eight but with chunkier yummier chocolate

The kids love the Aero type big bars too.
  • I started road cycling/commuting this year, and I seriously recommend Aldi and Lidl for cycling stuff. Aldi's cycling gear has seen me through these last few cold months (along with some decent baselayers, admittedly).

It's not all on-par with the pro stuff (it fits me fine), but I've saved serious money on gear that would normally cost twice as much (including a workstand and track-pump which have been used quite a bit and still work fine).

    Other great finds have been:

    ALDI:
    Ready-roll pizza-dough - 99p
Border's Dark Chocolate Ginger Biscuits (yum)
John Cotton King Sized Duvet £12.99 (they also had a duck-feather one for £23, but I went for the cheaper option)

    LIDL:
McKennie Jess Haggis - 89p at the moment, although these aren't the best I've had. They were a little gristly and fattier than I would have liked, but still tasted great with mash and gravy!

Can anyone tell me if any of the Aldi toilet rolls are ok. We have only had an Aldi for a couple of months and my pre Aldi stock pile is getting low.
    Thanks OMO.

I love Aldi but I've found all of their loo rolls to be a bit rubbish.

I always get the Cushelle 24 pack when it's on offer in Lidl. Which is right now! £7.49 for 24 quality rolls - can't go wrong! The offer usually pops up every 3 months or so but I always get 3 or 4 packs just in case. It's not like they go off so better to stockpile anyway.

    ...ALDI:

Whereabouts in the store would I find this please?

    Next to the fresh pizzas?

To save even more money why not make it yourself? Plain flour, the strong type if you wish, bit of yeast bit of salt splash of oil, water, knead done.

Alternatively Aldi also sell near the flour white bread mixes that you just add water to and knead, they are 59p and would be more than enough for 2 big bases.

Thanks. We have a Lidl. I'll pop in there tomorrow. :)

I don't use Aldi washing powder but I do use their Almat Washing Gel with stain lift. No complaints and it says it washes at temps as low as 15 deg (though never actually tested it so low myself!) Also use their condititioners.

Not overly impressed with the trigger cleaner sprays, I prefer to buy Flash ones at Home Bargains for a similar price. I do, however, like their Lemon scented wet cleaning wipes for a quick once over on spills etc. HTH.

    HI

We occasionally buy the Vita cat food. This time I've noticed the premium pouches are 85g instead of 100g. When I've bought in the past its always been 100g pouches. Are the non premium vita cat pouches 100g or have they shrunk too?

I bought a 'fresh' chicken there two days ago, use by date 4 Feb, opened it today for a roast and the smell was bad!!!!!

Also bought a Specially selected Wiltshire cured ham and cheddar quiche which isn't a patch on the Tesco version.
