Boots sale

  • I was surprised when I got to Chester as there was a lot of stuff that hadn't been there last week. Lots of what I can only describe as 'encampments' of people surrounded by bags, baskets etc all piled up and guarded by one person while others continued to forage!!! No trolleys although a couple of people fetched them from Tesco next door to get stuff back to their cars (or removal vans). No grabbing or pushing though and plenty of people saying try over there or passing things over. Plus telling people who didn't know the sale was on (!!) don't buy that full price they're reduced back there.
Many thanks to the lovely SA who tried to find out a price for the big Champneys vanity case for me and to the manager who said 'you can have it for £6'. All my friends' 60th birthday presents sorted now!
Even better (when I had put it all in the car) I went to M&S and got the last pair of cashmere gloves for £1!

Nothing there at lunchtime today^^^ (Belfast, that is)
  • I have two local Boots, one had basically nothing and the other a bit more than that, but the Soap and Glory cookie tin with apron filled most of the shelf.

There's always something that just doesn't go. I wonder if they analyse what has been successful because even the Sanctuary seemed vastly overstocked this year.

Uuummmm ... I brought one of these and I am very pleased with it as I love Soap & Glory. Each to their own.
  • Was in the Hamilton store for about 8.15 this morning (opens at 8.30) and already a lot of folks were waiting when someone came up with a trolley a lady said she would not be allowed in with it as they banned them last year, saw a lot of folk with about 10 of lots of items probably to sell went to lift no 7 set when a man lifted everyone off the shelf (take it there for ebay) but did not to bad with what i got so am well happy:beer:

I went to the Hanley store in Stoke On Trent. I got there for about 8:40am but loads of the stuff had gone even at that time. Not a soap and glory set in site! LOL. It was absolutely heaving with people. It's the busiest I have ever seen it! I saw one customer with two trolleys and countless blue bags full to the brim! I got loads of things for ladies but I really wanted stuff for men so went down to festival park. I am am glad I didn't go there first. There were just sad little piles of stuff on the floor at the end of some of the isles and a few half empty shelves. They had also wheeled a couple of cages out and just left them on the floor which people were looking through. Still very little for men though. I did manage to get most adult birthdays and probably Christmas sorted ( I have loads to buy for) for the following year by using my advantage card points and about £50 so quite happy.

Sounds like there's loads of people that buy to sell on ebay......I wonder who, if anyone, actually buys the stuff from ebay?! Don't all these shelf clearers just end up lumbered with a load of stuff they cant get rid of?!

I forgot to use my double points voucher this morning. Bought £52 worth of stuff. If I pop back, will they honour it do you think????

Yeah I forgot mine too, and it was just sooo busy, I didn't have the guts to make any more hassle for the SA, or to ask for separate transactions so I could use my points, she was so lovely, packing my bags then briinging them round to me, and filing my own carrier I'd brought (my S&G tote of course that was supposed to have signifed the limit of what I was allowed to buy :rotfl:) but I heard one SA saying to the others that they weren't accepting any other money off coupons today - not sure about double points thingy though....might be worth asking, worst they can say is no I guess?
I only bought six things but all six are great gifts, best buy was the starbucks set (which at £30 was waaay to expensive) and the Champney's huge box of products £12.50 down from £50.
    .

Glad you got some nice stuff - am SO jealous you got the Champneys one, but good for you! :D
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
