Boots sale

  • Thanks to everyone who posted about the sale, I couldn't get to my nearest (Eps*m) until after 10am and all was calm, it's not a huge store, no-one seemed interested in the S&G biscuit tins, I got a few mini fragrance sets, a no7 make up set and hello kitty bits for gifts. Still quite a bit left on the shelves (no champneys or sanctuary) and people just seemed to be getting a few bits each, I am quite horrified by the tales of people standing by shelves saying it is all theirs!

The toys in Crawley were at the back of the store in a clearance section at about 50% off so not great. A few toys were 75% off like Cars 2 bath beanies, a noisy thomas (dear god I regret this buy already), peppa pig weird pillow things and some other random useless looking things.

So I agree that this is the worse 75% off sale they've had yet. I normally buy mens gift sets to stock my hubbys cupboard up for the rest of the year but there was nothing. The food stuff still seemed really pricey to me and the smelles sets were a bit too "young" for me and my friends/relatives (and I'm only 31!)
i was at crawley about 11.30. it was like a jumble sale  never been to that shopping centre before.
life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.

Went to the Cameron Toll store (Edinburgh) at lunchtime, and there was just the toiletries that have been mentioned before. I nearly bought a couple of things but I didn't really want them so forced myself to put them back. All the same stuff that was there in the 50% off sale before really.
  • I went into the Altrincham Retail Park store and you'd think it had been hit by a plague of locusts! Not much left apart from lots of Danni Minogue stuff. All the good stuff had gone.

I popped into Kilburn and they have lots and lots of S&G sets and No7 make up sets.
No one is pushing or shoving, all very civilised.
I bought four different sets for a total of £14.
The S&G set was £16 full price
    Thanks OP

some bloke was putting through the till about 20 of the big blue bags of stuff. One of the bags was full to the brim of dove sets - looked like about 30 sets in that bag alone.

This is the worst I have ever seen of someone taking everything and the staff did not seem bothered (probably just want to shift it). It just seems unfair on others who shop at boots throughout the year and deserve a little january bonus ;)

Like someone said if people cant get there at opening they miss out because of these greedy people

Very true. It is unfair on others if one person takes the lot whereas 30 people could have got one each. A bit disappointing but i guess what can staff actually do? They can't stop someone buying so much even if they feel it is unfair...because there is no limit on the amounts someone can buy of each item.

Went to Ashford retail park Boots store mid-morning. Shelves were almost empty, just a few nasty things left that were not even worth the sale price. The sales assistant said that they had virtually nothing to start with and yet there were long queues to get in at 8.30!
  • I went to my local boots just a small one near work.

Got some makeup book gifts about £4 each
A hair set in gift bag for £5 for sisters birthday
A handcream and bag set for £2.50

not alot but a couple of nice gifts

Might stop in Norwich on the way home to see if there's anything left

    BELFAST DONEGALL PLACE UPDATE

I was there at 8am, the place was heaving!!!! Lots of Sanctuary and Project D stuff. I gave all that a miss, have too many toiletries anyway - I actually picked up the last No7 hatbox and put it down again - I don't need any more makeup!!

    I got:

3x Christmas baby PJs £15 down to £3!!
Birdcage mirror £12 down to £3
2x packs of shabby chic magnets £6 down to £1.50
    3x Lindt Santas £3.50 down to 87p
3x jewellery stands £12 down to £3 (really need these)
Vintage style mug £6 down to £1.50
GU dark truffles £6 down to £1.50 (for OH)
Fabric cupcake craft set £16 down to £4

I didn't do too badly considering! :D I was happy with my little bargains. :)

It was like total mayhem around me! People were laden with stuff; two ladies were standing guard over about 9 baskets full! Definitely the busiest 75% sale I've ever seen in the Donegall Place store, must be because it now gets blabbed all over the press and Twitter.

There were people there with literally DOZENS of Sanctuary sets each, must be eBayers or car booters!!! The postage on them will be crippling I imagine, so good luck to them trying to make a profit. :rotfl:

ETA: a colleague went at lunchtime and she said that there was hardly anything left! Glad I made myself go in at opening time! :D
