new mummy friend

Sounds like my Partner - she has loads of different friends in different circles so can often go a while between seeing some friends. Doesn't mean she isn't interested, just that she is busy, and needs a nudge sometimes.
Text her and suggest a meet up0 -
Text her. Hi, hope you and bub are ok, I was thinking of going into town tomorrow for a bit of shopping wondered if you wanted to come too and we could have a coffee and a bit of a natter.
If she doesn't reply you've lost nothing.Sadly, you don't have any badges yet but keep trying! See what you could get........... oh boo hoo I am crying into my wine.

Er..she's a friend who's a mummy? As opposed to my friends who aren't parents. Is it the word 'mummy' you don't like?
It's infantile.
And reduces her down to nothing more than what she has produced. A child. She isn't available as part of a set of trading cards like a particularly rare Pokemon for your collection, she should be a friend who happens to have a child. As it is, the title even suggests that you wouldn't have the slightest interest in her if she hadn't grown a child in her womb.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Wasn't the title of the thread just a description of what the op thought at the time? It was just an innocent remark not a feeling about peoples identities.Sadly, you don't have any badges yet but keep trying! See what you could get........... oh boo hoo I am crying into my wine.

An innocent remark can give others the creeps at the same time.
And reduce the numbers of people willing to be friends.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Oh Jojo get a grip! I refer to all my friends that I have made since having DD, who also have children, and who I know purely because we all have children of similar ages, as my Mummy Friends. One of them calls us Bumps and Babes on her calendar for our playdates.
I am as a big a feminist as they come, but I am not offended by someone referring to me as a Mummy Friend when we became friends directly as a result of our having children.
Just as I don't object to being called an Old Friend by someone I went to school with!
It's just a quick categorisation of types of mates, not a psychological assessment of character.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Needless to say that although I would obviously be the last person on the list to be invited to yours, I would actively avoid you if you started talking that way around me. I prefer to be me, a relatively intelligent human being, not someone's Bestest Mummy Fwend.
But then again, the Pre School Clique was something I always abhorred.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Why cannot you be both? What is wrong with being a mummy friend? I must admit I never involved myself in all that stuff either.Sadly, you don't have any badges yet but keep trying! See what you could get........... oh boo hoo I am crying into my wine.

Because I am me. Not a cute ickle bunnikins or any such baby speak. and Mummy Friend is baby talk as far as I am concerned.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Thank goodness.I prefer to be me, a relatively intelligent human being, not someone's Bestest Mummy Fwend.
I like to be me, an intelligent woman not afraid of any of the myriad of things that she is, nor of being temporarily defined by any of them.But then again, the Pre School Clique was something I always abhorred.
I can;t comment. DD isn't at pre-school. But while I agree that there is such a thing, why is being in a group of friends automatically defined as a clique on Planet Jojo?
You're remarkably vehement on this subject. It makes me wonder why.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
