fishcake well good luck :) Ive had 2 homebirths before one was a textbook delivery the other was a suspected breach (but was a face first presentation) during labour I NEEDED the gas and air lol I couldn't have done it on my own (well I probably could have but I'd have been deranged lol) I found having 2 other women there helped me as they knew what my body was doing even if I didn't (my body knew what it was doing but i didnt the 1st time!)
I'm having my third baby at home too, a water birth. I'm not brave enough to go it alone without a MW though! you're one brave lady! :)

  • Ah Fishcake I have been saying stuff like this all along and ppl think I'm bonkers. It's my first baby to be fair so I may underestimating a lot of things. But women have been having babies for thousands of years and the human race is still going strong! Upset that realistically for baby's and my safety it'll will have to be a hospital birth, but I have strict instructions for drs to leave me well alone don't want them sticking their noses in.

On a different note, I was chatting to the cat as one does. Then I started talking about how baby will be beautiful etc and she ran from the window ledge and bounced on my lap wanting a fuss. I don't think she's prepared to share snuggles with a baby, or be dressed as a stormtrooper for that matter :rotfl:

my MW has written my birthplan with me.. and on it is strict instruction for NO injections ONLY gas and air as pain relief (and the pool) no injection to speed up the placenta etc. I have a morbid fear of hospitals and have panic attacks regarding needles... so its jsut my luck i'm flaming reshus neg!! so i DO need a blood test after birth and i will need more anti d the next day. believe me i wouldn't have it, BUT i know that if i need a blood transfusion in later life not having the anti d, could mean (worse case scenario, death for me.. )so i agreed to have it :o my family have always supported the home birth thing but strangers think im mad! :rotfl:

Wowzers! Well today has been stressful! I met my deadline though which I am very pleased about.

The stressful part was waiting on other people to do their bits. But in the end everyone pulled together and we got it done and out the door.

I haven't been able to read back yet. I hope everyone's well.

I had my 28 week appt yesterday. I was pleased that my belly measured 28cm as I had been worried previously about the baby's femur measurement from my 20 week scan as it was in the 5 percentile.
The midwife had a feel around my bump and said that the baby is currently in the breech position (like you Jedi) but that it is positioned back to back. She said not to worry about the breech as the baby has plenty of time to move down and usually by 34 weeks most babies have done just that.
Regarding the back to back thing - she said that i need to make sure I am sleeping on my left side to encourage it to move.

Have any of you ladies had any experience of movng a baby from back to back to front to back? I know that a back to back birth is more painful than a conventional birth. I told DH last night that if it is back to back I am deffo gonna have an epidural!

In nottingham our physios aren't allowed to "touch" it makes doing their job very difficult! I wasn't even given any excersises to do  just handed a girdle thing and crutches.

I must say i'm getting really annoyed with not being able to put my socks on properly now :( The only shoes i can wear cos i cant reach my feet are sandels that slip on.. so i alternate during the day between sandels and slipper socks.. oh my word! ive just had a swearing fit at one of the slipper socks!

:( sorry both my 2 previous girls were back to back and NOTHING I did to encourage them around worked. I just had to put up with it. tbh If back to back labour is more painful than front to back.. then i wouldn't worry too much! I coped on gas and air and it wasn't that horrendous :) yes it hurt, but doesn't all labour?! I found that moving around helped :) and this little one is front to back.. so labour should be a breeze this time round right?! :rotfl:
