On a less ranty note, thanks nutella for the freebie
We are team yellow and anti pink too, we've ended up getting given lots of beige things, poor baby will live in a bland world if we left it to everyone else!! We have bought this, while technically for boys we thought it would be fine for either

And my sister got us this gorgeous romper suit which is very colourful, even more than it looks in the pic..

Hi Turtlemoose
Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. Sounds appalling, if they were run off their feet it might be different but just leaving you there to gossip it so wrong. No wonder you and OH are annoyed. What was your bp today? I'm still not understanding why they admit you for high blood pressure to a place you can't sleep and they do nothing overnight anyway with you. At least at home you'd be able to rest in quiet. The "white coat syndrome" and unfamiliar environment is enough to raise bp in itself. Anyway I hope it's nothing serious and just a couple of days of high readings. Sounds like baby is ok and swelling has gone so hopefully they'll send you home soon and it'll settle down. Turtlemoose, sounds a bit like an experience I had early on in my pregnancy. Had one sided pain and a small amount of bleeding, so was sent to a standard gynae ward. Examined, blood taken, an iv thing shoved in my hand, then told to wait. I wasn't admitted so they didn't have to feed me. They directed me to the cafe, I said do I come back here after. They said yes, so I wandered off, got a horrible sandwich, wandered back, opened the door and there was another woman being examined!
I spent an entire day sat in the tv room with this stupid thing in my hand which was really painful every time I moved, and a few days later I got blood clots and an infection in my arm. There was a poor woman in the corner who'd come in for a routine blood test, been let go, then called back as an emergency. They'd then shoved her in the tv room, told her very little, and left her. She'd got another child at home, she was crying because she thought she was losing her baby, it was horrible. When I finally left she was still waiting for a doc.
I was there from about half ten to sixish, then they just said the bloods were ok and they'd call me with a scan appointment. I had to actually ask them to take the damn iv thing out.
Luckily we are equal distance from two hospitals and I never went back there again. Do you have another hospital you can go to instead?0 -
My boys been in 0-3 for about 11 weeks now and will be for another few weeks I think, and the only babygrows I have that are still looking fresh and new are the Next ones, they wash great and are so soft. The supermarket ones look grubby now, and I'm convinced a few have shrunk, despite careful washing from me. They also re-sell well
just my 2 pence worth though. xx
I'm glad it's not just me! I keep looking at some of my stuff and wondering how it got so scruffy! Thinking about it though, I have a second hand next tshirt that still looks lovely. I seem to remember a John Lewis babygrow wearing well too. Only plain white but I may need to splash out on some from there.0 -
Oh the other side of the pink thing...
We got some lovely baby gros from Next - bright colours but not gender specific - so white with polka dots, white with stripes, white with multi coloured elephants (I don't like that one as much so it's been relegated to "emergency upchucking nappy explosion" status in the changing bag)... everyone flipping assumes she's a boy when she's got them on - just because girls don't wear bright colours you know!
All my preemie sized vests have gone that embarassing whitey-grey tinged colour, but I'm not impressed personally with how the Next stuff's washed (it's washed clean white but not stayed very soft and cuddly at all) - our little M+S outfits though have come up brilliantly. Yes, I've got a lot of soft cuddly baby outfits so I tend to put her in them during the day and just babygros at night (but she's a pain in the rear to get babygros that fit cos of her long limbs that she likes to pull back inside the babygro and then complain loudly that she's got herself in a bit of a knot). Surprisingly - the softest fluffiest baby bath towels we got ended up coming from Primark - they've washed streets ahead of any from anywhere else.
I still need to investigate these Gruffalo babygros that Sainsburys do though - how many times can I "spend" the child benefit that's going to be heavily backdated when it comes (combination of long waits for registrars appointments and being stuck in hospital so long).
Got to start doing the hospital complaint letter as well - no way they're getting away with half the crap they pulled - just taken me till now to feel emotionally able to deal with thinking about it all.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Morning ladies, i haven't read back but will do soon... well the period pain continued right up until i went to bed, and kept me up half the night, as well as uncomfortable bh's. I woke up this morning in a FOUL mood.. My legs and groin are in agony and I felt a bit shaky. Eldest wanted hotdogs for brekki so cooked them.. yuck... Ive just taken my pain killers and they got stuck in my throat... so cue being sick into the sink  and whilst I was being sick I had 3 very distinct PROPPER contractions. They really really hurt! Maybe being sick will have pushed things on even more.. but the more ive read on the internet I'm convinced I'm in a really really slow labour!Bad mother to 2!

LMM I'm 156/93 this morning, so they arent happy with me and I have to wait to see a doctor, which could be any time today. I totally agree about being admitted not helping - I've had just over 2hours properly asleep and an hour and a half of dozing...I'm shattered, hot, fed up, and forgot to put a toothbrush in my bag so feel dirty too, lol!!
Aimless I do have another hospital however it's a bit complicated as OH can't drive so that restricts us in terms of distance, and the other nearest one, his ex works there. He has a son with her, and she is the ex from hell with bells on!! She is furious about this baby (even though they'd been split nearly 3yrs before OH and I even met for the first time!) - she threatens to cut access to his boy every 5 seconds, and is generally threatening, abusive and a nasty piece of work. She's started on with saying SS is not allowed to come round anymore when baby comes - but from experience we know the best thing is her NOT to know baby is here, have SS stay over, and then mention it once he's already been. SO I would feel uncomfortable there knowing she was there etc which rules out the other hospital!! Others are just a bit too far - I'd like to think I could brave it out but I may not be so confident when in labour (first baby) and in a taxi, I think I'll want to go to the nearest!!!
I've just been checked again (143/100) so at least they are monitoring me today, there's talk of medication which would mean going home, trying not to get too excited about that though as might raise my BP lol!!
On a happier note.... Bump is officially 37 weeks today eeep, I suppose I should be prepared (in theory) for baby to decide to arrive any time from now (although I'm sure it will be a few weeks....I hope so anyway!).
Any of you first time mummies joining any groups or similar? I don't have many friends in the area (I'm not local, came here for uni then never left, but all the uni mates went home - have had the same job for 6 yrs but haven't massively gelled with anyone beyond 'colleague' level)....I'm a bit worried about being home all day with the baby and basically turning in to a nutjob!!! I've been eyeing up coffee mornings and so on, but while super excited about bubs, I'm not a mumsy gushing type so I really loathe the idea of trying to make friends with someone just cuz we happened to reproduce at the same time!! Anyone else in a similar boat?0 -
Ooh miss money, exciting
(well, not the sick part!!)
