i had my 28 week midwife appt today and she said baby is in breach position - this has worried me a bit - as although logically i know there is plenty of time for baby to move the midwife was not very reassuring.

Laura, don't worry at this stage - the baby will still turn many times between now and the birth as it still has plenty of space to move around. The midwife really should have reassured you. It's not until around 36 weeks that the baby should ideally be head down - and even then they can turn later on. My baby was breech at 32 weeks, but turned and has now been head down since 34 weeks. I did panic a bit though, so for a few weeks I spent 10 minutes on all fours with my bum in the air every evening as per my yoga teacher's recommendation! :D

Yes, but not on your tummy as it'll be too hot for the baby - using one for your back or sides is fine. Hope you get some sleep! :)
  • Wow think I've just about skimmed the last umpteen pages. Been a busy day here. Hope everyone is feeling ok this evening.
My friend came this morning and only just left so don't think I've been on here today. Went to a garden centre and had a bite to eat and got a couple of plants etc. quite a bit of walking, but a lovely day. Hope I won't be too stiff tomorrow :)
    Kittycat congrats on team blue!
Ikkle glad your test results have come back ok.x
Miss Money sounds like things could be happening!! Hope things are a bit calmer this evening at home with the OH.
I think someone asked about the Boots changing bag. I bought a small pack of nappies but also had a 50p off coupon (also from boots) so didn't work out too bad, I need nappies anyway. Ive heard a lot of ppl saying its too small, but someone has it in their car boot with spares.
I'm another not-pink fan. My sister wears the pink I love blue, so I'm loving the blueness now I'm team blue :) if we have a girl *next time*
Laura sorry your midwife wasn't great, seems early to be looking at position of the baby....doesn't it?
RJH I'm sure others have said that hot water bottles are too hot and the wheatie things are cooler.
    Welcome twinkle and Chrissy
Sorry if I forgot anyone, time for bed here. Night all xxx

Emsbet, I've been looking for yellow baby clothes too. Mothercare has a lovely yellow sleepsuit (with integrated scratch mittens) with a giraffe on it - it comes in a pack of three; one of the others is white with stripes in different colours but I can't remember what the third one looks like (but it wouldn't surprise me if it was plain white...). I just couldn't resist the winning combination of yellow and giraffe! I know there are some other giraffe lovers on here, so if you need sleepsuits there's my tip of the day :)

Ikkle, that's good news on your test results :j

Kitten Pie, yay for focus group! :money:

Right, I really should stop posting now before you all get tired of me - spending the entire evening watching TV and then doing a marathon catch-up probably wasn't the best idea!

    Good night all!

Anybody still up? I'm peed off, currently in hospital despite feeling fine, the only thing I am feeling right now is anti NHS!! Beware, a rant is on the way!!!

Bank hol monday, my hands started to feel tingly and weird, and sudden,y they swelled up - within about 15mins my fingers were so swollen I couldn't make a fist, and my forearms had swollen too. It was rather weird and sudden, so thought best give the midwife office a call just in case...being bank hol it was shut with a recorded message saying ring maternity triage instead. Rang them, who said I needed checking but a&e was busy so ring my docs instead to get seen by someone on call. Rang doc....who said go to a&e. Got there about 4pm, blood pressure was 163/101 eeeeek!!! But apart from the swelling I felt totally fine. I had to pee in a pot and then was left alone for an hour wondering what was going on. I wandered down to the nurses station and was told to and wait.

I waited, they retook the BP - now 146/100 - so lower but not low enough. By this point the swelling had gone down. Got sent to maternity (because of the BP). They monitored baby's heartbeat (fine) and movement (fine) for 20 mins. I was then left alone, until after about 45 mins I opened the door to find what was going on, to find the midwife was heading towards me....to tell me to get out of the room as they had an emergency....ok no problem. I was moved to the waiting room, where I was ignored for the next few hours. By 10:30pm (6+hrs in hospital) I was hungry, frightened, uncomfortable, tired, and annoyed.

The only contact I'd had with medical staff was when I went to find one, and I was always told to go back to the waiting room and somebody would be down "shortly". Anyway, at half 10 I lost it and demanded they either admit me and give me a bed (there were plenty empty btw!!) or send me home. They dithered some more, so I picked up my bags and started to leave. Cue a nurse chasing me down the hall promising I would see a doctor in the next 20mins, and they put me in one of the empty delivery rooms.

Said doctor did indeed arrive within 20 mins, did BP and asked lots of questions, felt baby, and said he wanted to discuss the case with his colleagues before deciding whether I had to stay or go. The staff station was in the room next to me, they had the window open and so did I. After listening to half an hour of them discussing tv programmes, the holidays they have booked this year, and one of the nurse's daughter's upcoming wedding, my partner finally lost his rag and stormed next door and let rip. I was sent home 5mins later, after just over 8hrs in hospital.

I was ignored, dumped in a waiting room, and left with no food /drink for a ridiculous amount of time - luckily I had OH to sort that out, but I can completely understand he horror stories of elderly people who end up starving to death in hospital. It makes me wonder how long would they have left me (36+5 pregnant with apparently dangerously high BP) on my own, while they chatted in the staff room for hours????

I finally got to leave at half midnight, with an appt for 5pm Tuesday. We arrived shortly before then, and after being left AGAIN I was eventually admitted at 8pm. I'm now on a ward where women are in labour, (4beds in the room) so as you can imagine I am getting zero peace and I doubt this is very beneficial to my blood pressure!!!!!

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
