    Hey everyone,

Thanks for the wishes re my scan, all was fine. Although she didn't seem certain about the placenta and my notes say poss D/L. Anyone know what that means?

Baby was squirming away and measuring fine. She showed us some freaky shots of the eye sockets etc and you could see the ribs and spine. Weird! Still hasn't sunk in that the image on the screen is actually inside me though! Can't wait to meet baby in around 20 weeks then it will all seem real!

    Good luck tomorrow Emsbet.

Did you find out what you're having bellola? Glad it all went well. DL could mean down low?
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Nope it's a surprise! I pleased I managed to say no thank you and didn't buckle! Yes that would make sense. She said she was happy with it but then put that in the notes. Oh well, presumably MW will read it and take whatever action is needed.

All it'll mean is that you may get an extra scan later in the pregnancy to check whether it's moved up on its own. Think of it as a bonus chance to see your little baby again. The majority of low-lying placentas move up of their own accord as the uterus increases in size, so I wouldn't worry about it. It's very common apparently. I'm very impressed by your willpower not to find out bellola. :)

Just in case I don't get a chance to get back online beforehand, I hope all goes well at your scan tomorrow emsbet - will be looking forward to hearing how it went.

Sorry I've not posted a while.. Been busy lurking whilst we were decorating nursery and spare room.
I've started using my coupons to stock up on nappies and wipes whilst they are on offer...
As a first time mummy how many nappies am I likely to need in each size?
I've a lot of coupons for newborn size but I'm not sure how long an average baby is likely to be in newborn size and how many they'll get through?

Bellola... I know what you mean about the eye sockets ... We've pictures of baby looking at us on 20wk scan and face on it looks very skeletal!!

Emsbet... Good luck for scan tomorrow

We're all having a discussion over on the newborn facebook at the moment about nappies. It seems if you're having a boy (and some with girls too) Huggies are sh!te. So I wouldn't buy too many of one brand as you just don't know which will suit, and you don't want to be changing outfit 3 or 4 times a day because of leaky nappies.

My baby is 12 weeks old and we're still using size 2's. We were out of size 1's at about 4 weeks. He was 7lb 13oz at birth and we use Pampers, but on the other hand some babies at 14 weeks are in size 4's so it's hard to judge. Although when first born its about 8-10 nappies a day so for me I probably used between 224-280 size 1's.

If you keep a hold of receipts you can always exchange unopened packs , do keep a hold of them though as some places are funny about exchanging without it, because people stockpile with vouchers and offers and then exchange for more than what they've paid etc.

Welcome Miss Money and hello to any other new people or lurkers! (sorry for not name-dropping you all but I can't remember much these days and Miss Money was the only one on the last page...!) :o

((hugs)) to those of you with bad SPD too, must be horrible :(

Pleased your scan went well Bellola, the photos are a bit freaky aren't they?! I'm potentially having another scan tomorrow at almost 33 weeks, hoping it'll look more like a baby and less like an alien this time...!

To the lady who was worried about not being organised enough and not having the nursery ready....don't panic! As others have said, there's actually very little that you NEED to be ready when baby arrives, and chances are s/he won't be arriving for some time yet - you've got plenty of time. If it makes you feel any better, our nursery doesn't even exist yet - nor does our bedroom! (Having loft conversion done, house is a complete building site - fun fun fun!)

Just waiting for DH to get home - he does tutoring a few nights a week to earn some extra cash. Have cooked (or at least attempted to cook) something tasty for tea, but it was one of those "chuck everything in and hope for the best" type meals, so we'll see! Last time I tried to make toad in the hole and it was a complete disaster :o

Someone asked a couple of days ago about perineal massage... I've been thinking about that myself recently as I think it's about time I start doing it, if I'm going to. I'm sure someone on here did it religiously, they'll be on the newborn thread now I expect. Can anyone remember who it was? I'd be interested to know if they thought it helped. There's lots of advice on the internet if you google it, e.g. http://www.oxfordradcliffe.nhs.uk/forpatients/090427patientinfoleaflets/090924perinealmassage.pdf
There are also some You Tube videos...!

Right, better go and check on dinner...

Perineal massage - I couldn't reach :rotfl: I had quite a small bump too :o wish I'd done more of it though as I ended up with an episiotomy. :o
Edit: Scrap that, apparently most forceps end up with one, so more massage wouldn't have made a difference :(

May have been Keza, but I'm not 100% sure.

    Evening everyone!

Hugs to anyone who is suffering, it seems quite a few of you are having a time of it lately what with the blues and aches and pains. Pregnancy really can take its toll on us, and everyone is so different, wish we could all have a group hug and make ourselves feel better!! :)

Cold is still being stubborn, I've now lost my voice and have the dryest throat......catch 22 really cos the more I drink the more I'm running up and down the stairs to the loo!

Baby has being moving around like crazy today, can see bits poking out of my belly and I think I had my first Braxton Hicks! Never had them before so don't know but my whole belly tightened and went hard for around 20 seconds, then stopped. Then it happened again a bit later. But it wasn't painful at all!?

Triangle, I forgot to reply to you the other day, sorry! Its this baby brain (that I swore I wasn't going to get!). We were on the TTC board at the same time and must have literally fallen about the same time too, weird!
I'm leaving work in just over 3 weeks and can't bloody wait either. This will be the first time I haven't been at work since I was 14!! Taking 2 weeks holiday, so my mat leave will start at 36 weeks, due back to work March 2013, part-time, sounds amazing :) Are you going back?

Oh and my best friend who's just had her first baby and had near on a perfect labour (if there is such a thing!!), SWORE by perineal massage, she done it religiously for the last few weeks and didn't tear or need an episiotomy......I might start before I get too big!
