  • I have so far managed to not open the box - am very pleased with myself hehe

Typical, have to go get DS in 10 mins from school and, after being sunnyish all day so far, the rain clouds have just settled in and the front room went all dark.... umbrella time methinks ;)

    Back again.

I returned from the dr. Was my own dr so she knows all the past medical history etc so made it a lot quicker than normal. Basically she signed me off for two weeks and then said we'll see. But she basically said its unlikely I can go back to work before the baby comes. She said she should be more positive but there's not much they can do for SPD. I knew that, but I was still kinda hoping that there would be some magic somewhere. The thought of the next 20 weeks at home in pain I think will make me madder. GP reckons occy health is unlikely to allow me to work even in a clinic due to health and safety especially if I'm on crutches. The bummer is I need to do one more assessment on the ward for my last uni module so if I'm off sick it's whether I can do that or I'll have to defer until after baby comes and return to work. Not wanting to write all the essay etc to find its no good next year IYSWIM? Will be gutted as really wanted to get it finished before baby comes rather than having hanging over my head and having to try and do it all with the baby. Argh!!!!!!!
On the plus I can live in my craft room :-) and have lots of time to be creative. Got a learning Italian cd which I've been meaning to learn for years, so thats another nice sit down job I can do. Trying to be positive here! I'm sure I'll find stuff to keep me out of trouble and away from online shopping :-)

Having had SPD in the two previous pregnancies I know there was no magic cure :( and even the physio just looked at me and said "here's some crutches" I'm now in a wheelchair as the pain is unbearable. My work told me crutches would be a health and safety issue and i may have to go off work sick.. I cited the disabilities thingy at them and they relented.... otherwise I too would have been off from 20 weeks. I work with kids so their argument was my crutches would be a trip hazard. and a wheelchair would be too.... until i pointed out they aren't allowed to discriminate against wheelchair users ( I was still on crutches at work) My doc signed me onto light duties which just meant I was sat at tables helping the children play games rather than running around with them as before!!
Spd Is a real downer of a problem. I can't believe how upset it has made me. I should have known how it would as I've had it twice before but I was silly :o the pain is in a different place this time too. i feel like my inner tighs and groin are being knifed with hot meachettes all the time.. before it was back pain with hip pain and siatica. Although saying that when ive stood for more than 10 mins now I'm getting back ache. one thing is for sure.. After this little one is born there will be no more chidlers for me!!!! I'm done! If Dan wants anymore he can have them :D or adopt.. im not doing this pain again!!!
Sorry that its causing you bother with your modular stuff thats a real pita. xxx
I dont have a craft room but I have a craft cupboard full of scrapbooking stuff, so I may start on some of my new scrap books :) (Id have to do it whilst Maddies at nursery as she's into everything, failing that it will have to wait until both big kids are at school in sept lol)

  • MissMoney I knew there was no magical cure, I've done lots of research, but I though maybe, just maybe the GP might know of something wonderfully new. I've had dodgy hips that pop a lot for years so it's just magnified the problem. I normally work on a very busy and manually heavy trauma ward so there's no way of doing that on crutches or a wheelchair lol. Some of the patients might end up helping me to the loo instead :rotf: :-)
As long as bubba comes out safely and he's well that's all that's important to me now, I think I'll have forgotten all this after he's born. And the pain isn't too bad.....when I stay very still.

Jovi, how haven't you opened the box? You have a lot of will power! I'd have scattered the contents all over the floor by now

Thanks Emsbet :-) what have you been up to today?

Come on Mr Tesco! Don't want to start anything as I know You'll be here soon :-) I love putting away the shopping. Might take a while, but I don't trust OH to put it in the right places.

Thanks emsbet :) ooo doing a home shop is something I could do to get the things I want rather than things dan thinks i want. I shall mention it to him :D
Ive not done too bad today. Ive cleared the dining room table of all laundry (havent put it away as such just moved the mess lol) and cleaned in the kitchen and done the pots... thats a hard days work here :o Also put all bottles and dummies in the sterilizer ready for baby. i will be breastfeeding (i hope to anyway) but I will also express so dan can do his fair share of night feeds :D

you poor girls with the SPD, must be awful day in day out :(

sneaked off early today after a day of meetings. hubby has promised to take me out for tea whilst the kids are with nanny and grandad, so im 'researching' where i want to go ;)

had midwife today, all well and iron is actually normal which is a nice change for me!
  • I love walking round the supermarket, literally minimum time is two hours as I need to look in every aisle. Took as long to do it online though. You can add comments like on my bananas I like them a little green so hopefully the person read my comments. For MrT you pick a two hour slot and they text you in the morning and give it an hour slot so you know more when the guy should come. Definitely recommend it. At least you'd get things you need too. And if you're like me other bits you just like the look of. It saves your favourites but I still like looking at everything so once you've done it once you can be quicker. If you're to seriously look to do it look around for discount codes for first time home delivery. It cost £3.50 for it to be delivered now, can be as much as £6 I think for peak times.
I think I ordered over 150 items though so hopefully I can squeeze it all in my kitchen!

  • I prescribe a lot of lazing about, big mugs of tea and copious amounts if chocolate. And if you can manage it pineapple, curry, sex, tweak your nipples and drive over ridiculous amounts of speed bumps.
    Hope your day gets better
    Xx

I wouldn't prescribe doing these all in one go way to messy!

its a silly thing to miss, but I do miss the supermarket!! i like to potter about, and doing it on an electric buggy drives dan mad :( so he will either make it impossible for me to go with him or just refuse to take me  so yes the home delivery thing is a good idea :)
Im probably painting him in a really bad light but to be honest I have a friend who is saying all the same things about her oh! I think its a late pregnancy thing and they don't know how to cope with it all... god knows how he will cope when baby gets here!!! going out for dinner on saturday with friend to have a bloody good whinge! :D

    Hello everyone!

Congratulations to all of you with gorgeous new little bundles, and everyone that's joined recently. Have been catching up and sooo much has happened! Sending lots of positive thoughts to the boldies and happy thoughts to everyone else :)

Just a thought, I go to an osteopath, originally for my migraines but now they're sorted I go back occasionally for general check ups. When I was there last week I asked about SPD (I'm not suffering myself fortunately, but I thought i'd check to see what the symptoms were just in case it occurrs). She said that although there is little that physios and doctors can do for SPD, osteopaths can help treat the area and it can really help. She said that she's had people come in on crutches before, and one treatment can help sort it out. Because Osteopaths are considered 'alternative', Doctors and midwives don't generally refer people to them, but they are all medically accredited in the normal way, and i'd totally recommend going to see one if I was suffering.

My osteopath specialises in cranial osteopathy, which isn't anything to do with the skull or head, but the way that the bones and muscles are manipulated (no 'cracking').

They can also help new born babies that suffer with colic and such, or babies that may have had a traumatic birth. Making sure that the spine and neck are correctly alligned etc. It's all very interesting, and i'll be taking Bump along after the 6 week check for us both to have an appointment :)

    I hope this helps

Ps. link above to info on osteopathy and SPD, although not my osteopath so I can't personally recommend the clinic.
