good morning all, how are the bumps and mamas today?

slightly grumpy mama here, but only because i have a day of meetings. rather be snoozing in bed!
  • Morning all!
Hope everyone is well this morning and slept well. It's lovely and sunny here :-)
Wondering how the boldies are getting on....hopefully some baby news today. I get really excited about everyone here.
I've got a busy day ahead, well lots of phone calls. The first being trying to get one with my GP to try and do/plan something about these dodgy hips. At this rate I'll be off until maternity leave. Only been a week and I'm crazy being stuck indoors and it seems everyone works these days so it's lonely. Hopefully be a better day, and I won't be crying too much.....if nowt else it gives me a headache.
Sorry to start the Monday morning on a glum note. *puts cheerful face on again**

    Morning ladies :)

    Boo to meetings mo2

((hugs)) LMM, I hope you manage to gets a GP appointment to sort something out. It's rubbish being stuck at home. If only we lived closer, we could keep each other company. Virtual company will have to do :)

My DH is off work today, he's been sick this morning. He was ill a couple of times on Saturday but ok yesterday so not sure what's wrong with him. Hope it's not contagious, don't want to be throwing up at the scan tomorrow :o

    xx

  • Thanks Emsbet I know everyone seems far away. Still chatting on here is keeping me a bit sane :-) can't believe they answered the phone in one ring, didn't think GP opened until half eight but have an appt at midday.
Hope nothing serious with DH, hopefully a day of taking it easy and he'll be hunky dory again for tomorrows scan.
Good luck Bellola with your scan today

Hi everyone :hello: just had a quick catch up of the weekend's activities

Many many congratulations to Lisa :happyhear - lovely news, thanks to Snoppy for the update :)

Thinking of Natwesty and Dashikii, hope to hear some yummy baby news soon. Lots of labour vibes to other boldies too :)

Hi to lovely new ladies and bumps

Hope poorly ladies are feeling a little better now. This weekend I have had instances of my bump feeling very tight almost to the point of discomfort. Feels OK at the moment tho fully expect it to start again soon!

Thanks to those sharing home birth stories. I personally have never wanted one (a lot to due with living in a mid terrace house :D) but am hoping to be able to use the 'home from home' rooms in our local hospital.

Off to work now - only 3 weeks left, working 4 days a week so thats just 12 teeny tiny days to go!! By the time I start maternity leave at 34 weeks, the nursery will be mostly sorted and all the big things have already been bought, but I'm looking forward to doing the smaller things like packing hospital bag, washing baby clothes and getting the house in order :)

    Have a great day everyone

Good morning ladies :) I didn't sleep too well last night, loads of pain in my hips and in my groin thanks to the spd. I try and sleep on my back but my body has other ideas and wakes me up whilst trying to turn. excruciating aint the word!! I woke up in a blind panic as the the oh hadn't woken up and got the eldest ready for school and breakfast club.. so cue me getting her ready (again) the idea was I would rest whilst he got everything sorted in the mornings. I realised this wouldn't work when he repeatedly came into the bedroom on the first day of my mat leave saying things like "how do I brush her hair?" hmmmm. I work at the school doing the breakfast club and afterschool club as a play worker and it's very odd not having to go! so Instead of me and youngest dd sleeping in I get up now and make sure Milliemoo is dressed, hair done and has had brekkie (he never gets to school on time for her to have breakfast!) anyway they went to school with about 10 mins of breakfast club left :(
plan for today is take maddie to nursery at 9.15 it's a 10 min walk there and back but takes me until 10am to get home due to not being able to walk properly. OH thihnks i shouldnt bother taking her to nursery anymore but i think it's improtant for her social interaction now she doesnt come to school club anymore. i will point out that my dd's arent my oh's this is his first baby and i get a bit annoyed with his style of parenting! i think he may change his opinions when baby gets here... after I come home I get 2.5 hours at home so i will do the washing up..then i will go and collect maddie. I will then attempt to do some laundry and anything that doesn't require bending/kneeling down. (i found out i cant kneel down anymore last week when i got stuck :o )
Iv'e got to have a look on ebay for a cot too. Ive got everything else and she will sleep in a moses basket with me for the first weeks..

Hope the ladies who have been induced are having mummy cuddles or will be soon :)
who do i pm regarding the fb page? xx

.. if that's what the mother wants. Each labour is different and every labour that results in a baby is a successful one. Personally I have no wish to have my baby at home; I'm reassured by modern medicine. Give me a bleeping machine any day over scented candles and some whale music.

But that's up to me, as it's up to all of us. I think it's pointless to say *this* is nicer. It's too personal an experience to compare.

Hospital for me too. Even if I wanted to have home birth, no one would let me. And the idea of tidying everything up after would get me mad. And I'd rather have doctor within reach if anything happened.
Just been to visit the MIL who, whilst adorable, has got some ideas that frustrate me a little...

Today I was told that I was 'feeling the kicks in the wrong place', that 'breathlessness is not something pregnant women suffer with and there must be something wrong with you' (thanks!), that 'babies never get stuck - that's ridiculous. Women are designed to give birth and it's a myth that babies' shoulders can get stuck', and, my personal favourite... 'having an epidural is cheating'.

Aargh, can you slap your MIL? :D

Yes, you can slap your MIL, and then you are welcome to take it out on mine as well. OH forgot to call her Friday night with what happened with the scan and appointment as we were busy getting ready to go to the wedding, so she rang at about 10pm complaining. So, OH got on Skype... We were knackered and would have ben happy to collapse, but, of course, she is the most important. So, as the babies put about 500g since last scan, that is how much they will put in the next 4 weeks. I really tried to ignore it this time, as it just annoys me. She always 'knows' everything, and if she said how it is going to be, it had to be that way. Good thing the went on holiday on Saturday. Pity it is only for a week...

The wedding went great. Not sure were I got the energy from, but I got up at 7.30 in the morning, and managed to last till the end - we got to our hotel room at about half past midnight! I even managed to have two dances with OH. My bump was a bit painful, pelvis in no good shape, but I have enjoyed it.

The next day we had breakfast at 9am, so no sleep in. And then the best man was flying back to Germany from Manchester, so we offered him to come back to ours for some food and took him to the airport in the evening. We knew him before, we were at uni together, me, bride and him started our PhD together, not that I have ever finished it! His wife is expecting their first baby about 3 weeks after me as well.

I am awake this morning as well, got out of bed to remind OH to take his mobile with him and the work laptop (he keeps forgetting and having to come back for it - and he works about 45min drive away!).

Oh, and he agreed yesterday that I can post another job on one of those trade websites - refurbishing the other reception room downstairs, so, we would empty the room, and leave the wallpaper removal, skimming the walls, painting, laying the floors and fitting new skirting boards to someone else. That is, if the quote is acceptable! I think if we could get this done for less than £500-£600, we would get someone to do it all.

Ok, better get ready to go out to my twins club meeting. I am still in bed, so need to get a move on!

((hugs)) missmoney, hopefully your OH will get in the routine of getting DD ready for breakfast club soon. How long has he been taking her?

I think Sami_Bee is the person to contact for the parents group on fb. Gillyx, K&boys, and Mirrorimage0 are the people to contact for the newer thread which I think is the newborn-12 month one? Not 100% sure as I haven't joined them yet.
