Where have you guys got your muslin squares from? They seem quite expensive for what they are, and for how many you need! I was half thinking about buying some muslin from the fabric shop (it's about £1 a metre or less), and making my own, but I don't know if that'd be more hassle than it was worth....plus I'm not that great with a sewing machine...! :rotfl:

I got some from Tesco, John Lewis and Sainsbury's. Tesco ones are quite soft and thin, John Lewis feel the 'sturdiest'. I got over 20. Also, I got some smallish towels from Ikea, which I think will be great for putting on the changing mat, cleaning up, layin n the mattress, etc. I got 15 of these:

I'm 19 weeks today and have my anomaly scan a week today. In all the excitement of hearing wriggler's heartbeat I forgot to ask the midwife a few questions so I'm hoping you lovely ladies can answer them for me.
Do I need a full bladder for the scan or is my uterus now far enough forward that I don't need to? It doesn't say in my letter so I'm guessing not.
Do you see a midwife after the scan like with the dating scan or is it just a scan?
Or are these things dependant on where you live like most maternity services?

Was told to come full bladder. Sonographer even complained that my bladder wasn't full enough! I guess it depends on the hospital. I would go full bladder, and if not needed, you can always visit the loo...

Lovecrafting, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I hope all goes well.

I have finished running around house tidying up in readiness for the cleaners today. So, I just sorted the stuff around and left the cleaning of the surfaces, floors, etc for them. It is messy, can't wait for all to be sorted. After 3 hours I am knackered and just collapsed on the sofa.

Also, good thing I checked my calendar, I have the breastfeeding session tonight, completely forgot. So, I am off to hospital tonight.

Hello Happy8178! Welcome to the thread!

My cleaners have arrived. There are 4 of them (!!!) and the plan is 8 man-hours in total. I am finding it hard to sit on the sofa and just stay out of the way. I feel I should be cleaning as well instead of sitting on the sofa and watching TV...

Oh lovecrafting it never rains it blooming pours, will keep your family in my thoughts and hope your hubby makes a speedy recovery, I'll bet you're run ragged, I know it's no consolation but I really admire you for everything you've been through and you're always back on here offering advice to others when things are going mad in your own life :) x

welcome happy and any other new people I've missed!

Emsbet, I was really nervous before my 20 week scan, so much so I didn't tell anyone at work/friends etc I was pregnant until I was 22 weeks because I wanted it to sink in that things were progressing well, it's an amazing appointment and I didn't want to hop off the bed I just wanted them to keep pointing out the little nose, heart, feet etc! Hope this week flies over for you x

Well mw this PM for my 38 week appointment, I'm feeling a lot of pressure when I walk now, but no other promising signs, still feeling anxious about the due date being so close to my sis' wedding, think I'll explain my fears to the mw see what she says about presentation and engagement etc, maybe that'll reassure me!

OH would love to join, but we were told the men are not 'encouraged' to join this one class. I find it strange, as I thin it is just important for them to know ins and outs of breastfeeding, so they can be more of support when the time comes!

  • Hi Happy8178! And also to any other new members (I've not been online for a few days!)

Lovecrafting big hugs to you, hope your OH gets well soon.

Emsbet I've got my 20 week scan next Monday and I have been really nervous over the last few weeks. I think I really struggle sometimes to believe that I am actually pregnant as I had thought for a while now that it just wasn't going to happen for me. I also know a few people who didn't carry to full term and this keeps playing on my mind. I know that I have to be positive, but just wanted to let you know I understand how you're feeling and I'm sending you hugs!

Oh, and my letter said to go with a full bladder so I now have no idea whether this is necessary or not!

Oh yeah, I forgot, I was due to go to a women only class but was the only lady signed up so was offered a place on the couples class, when I asked why they didn't offer this to everyone they didn't really have an answer, it's a real postcode lottery this pregnancy business! You should get plenty of literature for your OH to read hopefully,
  • Hello ladies :)

Congrats to Safesound, Jake was a big baby - loving the name although I am biased as DS is also a Jake! Enjoy your mummy cuddles :D

BB1984 I completely understand your concerns with your relatives coming up from London, OH's mum and husband are doing the same... I will be booked in for c-section w/c 04.06.12 and they have booked a hotel for the whole week  OH is under strict instructions to make sure she doesn't turn up at the hospital on the time/date I am booked in for and we will be telling the staff on the ward that we don't want visitors for a few hours after the birth. In a way, I am kind of glad that we will be in hospital for a few days as at least that way visitors will be only allowed in during certain hours - saves me/OH offending anyone :o

Sorry to hear about your DH Lovecrafting, hope he gets better soon.

    Welcome Happy8178 :)

Well, I had the MW this morning, bumpy was breech when she first started examination and by the end was lay head down - I am sure heis practising for the olympics in there :) My blood pressure is low 90/60 but I don't think this affects anything except making me feel dizzy (no change there then!). All in all, everything is fine :)

OH has had some bad news at work, his employers are closing a local depot and the knock-on effect is that there are going to be 14 people vying for 6 jobs in the department he works in. The depot is closing at the end of the year so its not imminent but he will have to re-interview for his job :( We're going to have a chat about it tonight and although it wouldn't be my first choice, he does work for a global company so I am going to suggest he looks at opportunities at other depots up and down UK/maybe beyond... I figure its better we move and he be in a job with good prospects long term than we stay here and he be unemployed...
