Hi and congrats/good luck to those for whom things are starting to get moving.
All that's moving in my world is my bloody SPD - it's now affecting my hips as well as my front bits... keep trying to tell myself it's 7 and a bit weeks max if I hit the overdue to the point of inducing me deadline until I have a chance of it turning the corner.
Also made the pleasing discovery that the blooming damp in our bedroom's now getting worse to the point of starting to pull plaster off the wall... grrr.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Does anyone have any idea about tax credits & child benefit etc? I'm trying to work out roughly if we are going to manage when I finish in September.
I'm currently earning around £20k p/a and OH is on approx £14k. If we struggle then we would have to swap and I would go back to work and OH would stay at home which isn't ideal.
When I'm entering stuff in the benefits checker what do I put as my income (I'm doing it as if we have already had the baby). Do I put my full earnings or does it get calculated on SMP + OH's earnings? If I do both at full earnings then we just get child benefit but if I put in SMP + OH's earnings then we would be entitled to tax credit too. Aargh which is right?!
I'm so worried that I'm going to be off and we won't afford the bills.0 -
Thanks for the update Emmy. Yay that little Isla and lovecrafting are going home.
Oh dear dizzi. I have no clue about SPD but it sounds painful to me. I guess I'm lucky with just the bad hips and heartburn.
Bellola - the tax credits thing does my head in. I have been trying to understand them since their conception 10 years ago and the still utterly baffle me. You should definitely get full child benefit but no idea about tax credits.
Hope Flutterby is ok

Tell you what though Bellola, there's some really clever people on the benefits and tax credits forum on here and I'm sure if you posted there they would help you. They seem to know their stuff.DS1 born June 2000

hi Bellola, the threshold for tax credits is being brought down to £26,000 per annum, per couple with one child. But you should get something for year 2011/12 because the threshold was a lot higher then? If that makes sense, but when making your claim for next year I don't think you'd get anything. I'm not if that's 100% right though so best asking someone in the know. You will get £80.40 though, 4 weekly for your child benefit xxThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I'm ok thanks hon, nothing to regular, some hours they are every 10 mins, others, every 20. Should I ring hospital for advice? Or just go when they are regular ie every 10 mins? Some last about 30 seconds others are 10 max.0 -
My midwife said to me to phone when I was getting 3 in the space of ten minutes regularly. That seemed very late to me.
I don't see any harm in phoning if you want some advice though. That's their job!!DS1 born June 2000

But the year 11/12 ended yesterday so she wouldn't get anything if she hasn't claimed would she?0 -

I think the £26,000 limit is for a couple with just 1 child and no child care costs or disabilities. When I first looked me and my husband weren't entitled due to our income even though we will have child care costs, since being awarded DLA for our Daughter we are entitled! Its very complicated, I don't understand the figures at all! Posting on the benefits board is the best idea, some people on there who will be able to tell you what you will be entitled to.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:
