Hi everyone, hope you're all ok! Congrats to the new mummies...
Just tried to read back a few pages and wanted to say, for those worried about being able to get the hang of breast feeding, etc, the important thing is if you are struggling, then please ask for help! I was convinced Amelia wasn't latching on properly or getting enough milk, as she seemed to be ok feeding during the day but overnight would want to feed constantly and wouldn't sleep at all. This was made worse emotionally for me as my milk came in yesterday which turns you into a crazy bag of emotions, complete with irrational unexplainable crying, so I was feeling really rubbish and on the verge of throwing in the towel and heading out to get some formula... I then rang the local breast feeding support midwife who came round to the house yesterday, watched me feed her and reassured me that everything that was happening was normal. As a result, last night was a lot better and I'm feeling a lot more confident about the fact that I *can* feed my baby! So make sure you ask for support if you need it, and don't feel like a failure for asking!
Thats reassuring to know. I also never knew you can get help like that,so will bare that in mind. I def want to try BF but the only thing worrying me,and I found this when feeding my son,is my nipples are slightly inverted. They do come out but are a little shy I guess. I tried the shields and the suction thing that you wear and they didnt make any difference. Will just have to see.....:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove

No one ever tells you how often you will feed baby in the first week or so, the every hour for the first 3 days knocked me sideways completely and I can very easily understand why some women think they don't have enough milk.
There was a thread maybe a year ago on here (might have been a bit older) , I think it was called 'the truth about breastfeeding' or something like that gave honest accounts of breast feeding, what really to expect and what the big purple book forgets to tell you.Little Person Number 4 Due March 2012

Morning
Got soaked on the school run this morning and my boots must have a hole as my feet were soaked too!! I might pop to matalan as I have vouchers from Christmas so might see what boots they have in there.
Gilly - I have heard good things about aptimil but never used it. I have always used SMA gold so think I may stock up on a few cartons for the first few days incase it's a bit hectic here!!

Ask your midwife what support there is available in your area. Around here I've got the direct contact I can ring if necessary plus there's a couple of support groups that have drop-in clinics during the week (also good to go to to meet other breast feeding mums in the area...) Hopefully there'll be similar things available for you as well.
On babycentre it says it doesn't matter if you've got inverted nipples, as the milk comes from your breast rather than nipple. It's all to do with getting the latching on right I think.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
I thought Mcflurries were a no no because of the risk of lysteria.
36 weeks today:T:T:T
Tbh i`m not sure! I know the ice cream van and mcdonalds milkshakes are unpasturised, so presumed the mcflurries were as they are made the same as ice cream vans?! I dont know lol, i`m not a plain ice cream lover anyway, i`d rather have a haagen dasz strawberry cheecake pot all to myself! x
Yay Lucy! I was 35 weeks yesterday, and there was 35 days to go til due date haha! xxMummy to 3 beautiful GIRLS, 9, 7 and 3,and a handsome lil BOY 03.03.12 :T

Oh thats brilliant news,I never knew this. I have my 36 week check with the MW on thurs,so will def ask about support groups. Also need to ask about whether our hospital rents out tens machines. If not, have heard great things about the elle tens which you can buy for about £50,which has a great little boost button apparently.:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove
