Hi Triangle and Snoopy, hope you both ok.

Snoopy im getting a bit excited and giddy now. Are you?

  • lol - yeah very giddy, I just keep thinking "oh my god, I am going to be a mummy soon" I can't believe it. Had a little cry last night because OBEM made me realise it was all real and going to happen.

If I was closer Happy - I would come and be your birth partner!!!!

On the pillow front - just a normal one for between my legs at night does the trick, but it does take some getting used to turning over, couple of nights and you just get on with it though.

I did buy one of those long sausage pillows but it was too big and cumbersome, so it is now in my chair in the living room, which helps me be more comfy at night! x x

Thanks MrsManda that's really helpful. When we went looking in Mothercare I really liked the Graco Evo pushchair which had an optional carrycot attachment and carseat. The only think is it's a brand new style that I think only came out this month so there are no reviews to check out. I had originally had my eye on an all in one travel system that I'd seen online but when I checked it out in real life, my goodness it was heavy and big and cumbersome. I think I want something more lightweight. I want to try and check out the Mamas and Papas Sola next. I'll have to have more of a think about car seats. I also want to get a carrycot attachment as I think they are lovely and it would be useful for daytime naps, when we go to nannies house etc but DH thinks it's a waste of money if you can use the pushchair from birth.

Happydays I like inane chatter - it makes a boring day at work go a bit faster!

Thank you for adding me to the list Emsbet.
  • Morning ladies and bumps.

Hope everyone is feeling well this morning.

Ahh I'm laughing at the pillow talk. Happy I can imagine you shouting at it in the night lol.

My OH is talking about getting me a maternity pillow for my bday. To be honest I'm already the pillow queen and sleep with 5-6 dotted around including my best buy ever - my leg pillow :-) yep I have dodgy joints esp my hips do this pregnancy could get interesting! I'll get him too look up the pillow mentioned here, have forgotten the name already...oops. I'm predicting he will try and steal mine too.

Emsbet, would you mind adding me to the list please? I think my official hospital edd is 13th September. We are planning to find out the sex, I just don't do surprises well I'm afraid.

Hope you all have a good day xxx

Hello little_miss. Oh yes i do shout at it. Its so annoying when you try and turn over and forget you have to flip the pillow over so you end up with your legs about a mile apart. I think im going to miss it when i dont need it anymore.

Snoopy - bless you, you are very kind. Did you get the cake finished and have you lost the purple tint now? I wish i could bake but i am !!!!!. Im so excited to just get my body back. Im so fed up of walking like ive got a rod up my !!!! cos of the way my posture is. And when you are a little heavier like me i just think people think you are immobile and not pregnant. I may get a sandwich board for ny next visit to the shops with a slogan on it.

    Morning all,

I have decided to join this thread if that's okay? I'm 15+5 weeks at the moment and have been on the 12-24 weeks thread but I have a couple of questions that I thought you ladies on here might be able to help with? This is my first baby and my due date is 8th September. I have my 20 week scan booked for 20th April and I can't wait because I really want to find out if we're having a boy or girl!

Anyway, I am having major problems with getting comfy/sleeping at night at the moment. Every time I lie down on my side I get the most awful pain in my back. As soon as I'm up and moving about I'm fine but I can't seem to be able to lie down without getting pain. As well as the back pain if I stay on my side too long I then get pain in the hip that I'm lying on. As I've been told I should only be sleeping on my side this is causing me great problems. I'm a front sleeper normally and really miss it! Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I spoke to the midwife on Monday and she suggested it could be to do with how the baby is lying, but I'm not convinced. The only suggestion she had was to use plenty of pillows for support, which I'm doing but I was thinking about getting a dreamgenii or similar. They are so expensive to buy new though and I don't want to spend a lot in case I don't get on with it. I have seen some on Ebay but I wasn't sure about buying second hand due to hygiene reasons. Emsbet, I know you got one from Ebay did you wash it or anything before you used it?

The other thing I wanted to ask is about pushchairs/prams/travel systems. DH and I went to have a look at some this weekend and we've seen a couple of possibles but I am a bit undecided about car seats. I don't know whether to get the one that fits onto a pushchair chassis or a seperate one which doesn't go on a pushchair but will last for longer so be more cost effective. The thing that's puzzling me is that I read that you shouldn't leave baby in a car seat for longer than an hour. So I'm thinking is it worth having the one that transfers from car to pushchair as an hour isn't very long to drive out somewhere, go for a walk or round the shops or whatever and then drive home again. From what I can tell I'd have to get him/her out of the car seat anyway. Does anyone have any advice?

Sorry for the long post everyone!

    Hi and welcome.

Re the pillow and sleep, I get numb on both hips no matter which I lie on. I have many times woken up on my back and been fine. Re the pillow, I always wash what I buy off eBay, but never rated the pillow so bought and sold back on eBay.

Re pram and chair, ours is a silver cross travel system that has a separate chair, I didn't want one that seat fit onto it for the same reason you said. Ours lies flat and looks so comfy, then converts to a pushchair for 6 months plus.

Emsbet you are very kind for doing the list. Just the site of it brings me out into a cold sweat so im glad you have took on the responsibility. Was thinking, i think Icey should now be moved onto the bottom list as its 14 days since her due date.

I've moved Icey :) I hope no one minds me taking on the list, if anyone else wants to do it that's cool :)
And glad you and your pillow got on well. I hope your husband kept his jealousy at bay. Take a picture of the pillow and put it in the book you are makinh him with a heart round it saying 'emsbet 4 genii'. haha

Haha! Not sure he would like that ;)

Emsbet, would you mind adding me to the list please? I think my official hospital edd is 13th September. We are planning to find out the sex, I just don't do surprises well I'm afraid.

    Done :)

Im sure nobody minds Emsbet. Ive tried on so many occasions but im just really stupid and i cant do it.

Ive ate my crisps and im still starving so gonna make some egg mayo to have on butties. I seem to lurch from one meal to the next with this constant grazing. Im gonna try and stop eating easter eggs though now as i fear i may give birth to one.
