Have taken tomorrow off so it's Friday for me today
I have managed to double book myself next week when I'm meant to have my 36 weeks appointment but I would only have been 35+4, so now I have to go when I'm 36+4, don't really mind so much as I feel well and OK but I am desperate to know which way round this LO is, I have something small and hard like a foot popping out, but it's not at rib height, more mid bump on the right, I 'think' she's still head down, but in reality I have no idea what all the body parts are!
It's my birthday on Monday and I've asked for a few bits for LO so I'm looking forward to that, DH is taking me out for sunday roast this weekend too (food is so important to me at the mo!)
Looking forward to hearing of baby news, we must be due some news this weekend!0 -
Oh and thanks for doing the list Emsbet! x0

I also want to get a carrycot attachment as I think they are lovely and it would be useful for daytime naps, when we go to nannies house etc but DH thinks it's a waste of money if you can use the pushchair from birth.
I know what you mean about liking the idea of a carrycot but my OH had the same view as your DH. To be honest once we started looking around and I saw the cost involved I kinda agreed.
I found all the Graco systems we looked at too heavy for me, having a relatively lightweight pram was one of things we looked for because I'm only small and I'm the one who is more likely to be using it - I don't drive so walking and public transport are my main modes of travel. The Sola seemed good but my OH didn't take to it at all and neither of us liked anything we saw in Mothercare.
We managed to narrow it down to 3 different prams (mountain buggy swift, phil & ted explorer and uppababy vista) on our third visit to Kiddicare (after our 3rd visit to mothercare and mamas&papas) then went to our inlaws to look up reviews.
The reviews made us narrow it down to the Swift and Vista and we were dithering in the shop when someone who had a Swift went past so I quizzed herShe liked it but she'd had a few problems with the front wheel and grab bar coming out of their clips - was back in Kiddicare to have them fixed. Plus it's meant for upto 5 years and her little boy was only 19 months and almost too tall to fit the seat.
So we went with the vista which also comes with a carrycot as standard
One thing to check if you do get a carrycot is to check whether it can be used when separate from the pram base. I think most can but we came across a few which said they weren't suitable to use as travel cots due to ventilation only being from the bottom- so if they're on the floor there's not enough airflow.0 -
I had a dilemma with a carry cot aswell cos i thought it may be handy for baby to sleep n during the day. I asked the sales advisor and she said a lot of the, arent suitable because they havent been quality checked for that purpose and only for being on the go as part of a pram if that makes sense. Some of them have but you would need to check like MrsManda says.
My birthday is tomorrow Amymo and im already eyeing up the present in DS room as i know its from Thorntons. Dont know how i havent pilfered it this week while he has been at school. I hope it contains liquorice toffee cos i love that stuff and my excuse will be that im helping my constipation!!DS1 born June 2000

Hello all! Haven't been on here for a while, I am sure i missed lots of babies and interesting topics!
I am keeping fine (just could really do with a nap now!!!!), and had my 28 week scan and appointment this morning. Both twins are growing well, right on average, and estimated weights are 1.2kg each. The midwife took bloods to check my iron again, no GTT for me as I am not in the risk group, according to them. Next scan and appointment - in 4 weeks. They were happy with everything, and just told me to keep doing whatever I am doing. I wish I knew what it was!
And the best thing - only 4 working days after today left for me. Can't wait to finish and jsut lazy on the sofa for a bit...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Thanks MrsManda and Happydays for the thoughts re prams/carrycots. Some more food for thought.
And I fancy liquorice toffee now you've mentioned it - might have to make a diversion to Thorntons on my way to the station after work.0 -
Hello Gin. Glad you are keeping well, we were worried about where you had gone.
Did your nursing chair get delivered in the end?
It's good that both twins are doing well and you must be thrilled that you don't have much longer left at work. You deserve a rest xDS1 born June 2000

Hi happydays!!!! All is well, I was just too busy with work/too tired to log in.
The chair has been delivered (well, have to go and collect it in the end as they took it off the van!!!!) and I built it the same night. It is very comfy, but I think I may want to get a small pillow to rest my head when sitting there/feeding/etc. I can't say the finish is the best, as some places/screw holes don't look very tidy, but then they are usually covered by cushions/etc, so you don't really see.
We also bought the wardrobe last Friday in Ikea, and I spent most of Saturday building it. But- now it is there, and I can get sorting the clothes/bedding into drawers. I have put some wood filler into the damaged screw holes of the cot, and now need to see if it works, or do we need to resort to drilling through and using new screws to hold it together. I moved the cot as it was to a different position in the room, and the base completely fell off!!! Sill haven't got the second cot, but there is no big rush for that one, as they won't need it for a good few months. The new mattresses are here, and they look very comfy.
So here we go - we are getting sorted. Did another baby clothes washing today, and all tiny and 0-3 month clothes are no washed, just need to be ironed!
Re carrycots - I am hoping to use mine downstairs for sleeping, if it works out. Maybe even used moses basket stands, and put moses baskets upstairs into the cot. I am not sure the one we will be getting is 'qualified' to be used for sleeping, but if needed I was thinking to upgrade the mattress or something. Hello everyone,
Loving the busy thread, have just spent the last half hour reading back since yesterday afternoon!
I have a E pillow I bought online for about £40, it has a removable cover for washing. I bought it a few months ago, but found that it was too big for me (and has sat on the floor ever since)... if I put my head on the top of the pillow and the bottom between by legs, the middle big sticks straight into Bump and the bottom supports my calvesI'm 5'5, and about a size 10, and I have to say this pillow is huge! DH is 6'3, and sometimes gets back problems, so the other night when he woke up grumbling, i told him to try the pillow, and he LOVED it! I'm hoping that it will come in useful for the third trimester, although at the moment a spare pillow between my thighs/knees/calves is very comfy. And Bump seems quite happy to declare war on the mattress when I get into bed each night!:rotfl:
Re travel systems, we have been incredibly lucky in that a neighbour has just given us a barely used M&P Ultima pram/cot/stand. We're over the moon! I took it all apart at the weekend and washed all of the soft covers, so now it is as good as new. Although it took me an hour to work out how it all went back together again, the only problem with second hand is that you don't necessarily get the instructions!
The main thing for us was that whatever pram system we had would need to fit into my Polo (T reg so slightly larger boot than the newer models) and we're really lucky that this version of the Ultima has a frame that fits perfectly. We were hoping that the cot part would be ok for Bump to sleep in when we go on holiday, but the sales advisor in the shop we went to said that it was only good for overnight oneoffs, as they have solid (non-breathable) sides, unlike moses baskets. I'm guessing she means if the baby rolls over against the side etc.
The other thing that we really wanted was a car seat that clips into and out of the car easily with the baby strapped in. We have some friends that have little ones that had permanently fixed car seats in the car, and had a battle on their hands with a screaming baby every time they tried to go anywhere. So we decided that we'd go for a maxicosi cabriofix so that the baby can be clipped into the seat in the house, all nice and calm, and then just popped in the car when we were ready to go. We're over the moon that a friend has given us her one, and I've bought the easibase 2 which fits in both isofix and non isofix cars.
The carseat doesn't fit onto the M&P ultima though, but I really don't mind about that.
Talking about food, I feel really greedy... We have a lovely cafe at work that does hot food, and big man-size portions too. So I usually go for half portions which are enough for me... today was fish pie with veg, and it was lovely and cheesy and light... I was still hungry afterwards, so went back for another half! So now am completely full but still craving chocolate. Hey ho!:)
Happy Thursday afternoon everyone! Sorry for the long post!

Hi Gin, glad you're well, we missed you!
Carrycots, the one that goes with our pram is £160  so DH and I agreed not to bother as the pram is suitable from birth and lies flat with a cosy inner to keep LO snug. We're borrowing a moses basket and stand from a friend and have a new mattress for it, it's a beautiful crib actually, and slightly larger than a standard moses so should be OK to use for a little longer than a basket0
