I had a water birth and after spending a while beforehand thinking about what to wear, ended up not wearing anything, I really didn't care by that point!0

Good morning all! Haven't checked here for a few days, and I am sorry I haven't read through all yet.
So, if I missed anything - congratulations to all new mummies, labour vibes to all who need them, and welcome to new faces (names)!
Been busy with work, and a bit stressed. Stayed long yesterday, only left t 6.10pm, was working at the client offices, and even my 'local' client boss was telling me to go home, but I had to finish what I wanted to leave to me real boss to look through today (hopefully - he is not the most eager person) as I have a day off.
I got my car seat from Boots finally - they sold me for the same price as I paid originally and they messed up by saying it is out of stock and refunding me, just for the seat to turn up at the store two days later!
The glider chair should be arriving today, as well as the mattresses for the cots, can't wait!
Decided it is time to star getting things sorted, so put loads of stuff on freecycle as well this morning, hope we can make some space in the garage. Talked to OH, and we will attempt to replace the sink in the cloakroom over Easter as well, as we had that 'parked' in the garage for about 1.5 years! We won't do all as we wanted before, we will leave the lining paper as it is, but will probably give a fresh lick of paint and maybe replace the coat hanger and the towel rail. Not sure I am brave enough to replace the loo itself, never done it, and it is a bit more difficult now with the bump for me to do things, and OH is not that good at diy. Anyway, I still need to get him to agree to re-do the other room downstairs, so we can out a sofa there for any extra visitors to sleep over, and just tidy all up. We have the paint in the garage since the Focus closed down - we got is really cheap when they were selling out!
Anyway, I have 13 days left at work, and I really can't wait! Ok, take off another half a day for the consultant appointment and the scan in 2 weeks. Now this is only my personal opinion and not meant to offend anyone but I just don't buy into all this clap trap they tell you about bathing them (or not)!! If the baby is dirty or smelly it'll get bathed, if it needs doing every day it'll get done every day. And if soap or whatever is needed to get it clean and sweet smelling then I shall use it. And top and tail bowls just seem ridiculous to me, surely all that is needed is a little common sense.....wash baby's face first then do its bottom half. That's what our parents did and it never harmed us. i know soooooo many people who've bought top and tail bowls and not used them more than once! Each to their own though, I do know how hard it can be to go against the advice that the 'professionals' give out as you don't want to do anything 'wrong' but I'm stubborn and hate being told what to do so I tend to smile sweetly, agree with everything they say and then do my own thing!!
I so agree with this! I never saw a point for top&tail bowls. Just use your logic! Would you wash your down end and then face? No, so you are not going to do this for the baby, are you?Last day in work!! Feel like I could keep going as pregnancy hasn't been problematic at all, but I'm due Thurs so might be pushing my luck, lol!
Congratulations on your last day at work!!!!!!
Right, I need to order my changing unit without OH knowing I did it, he can't say anything when it turns up... And we need to get to IKEA to buy the wardrobe, so I can put all those clothes away that I have been washing, and just get the room sorted - this would also empty the guest room from all the baby stuff!!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Oh, and I gave in with my cramps, and bought a few bottles of tonic water yesterday (for quinine). Yesterday morning I was woke up not by my alarm, but by horrid cramps in my leg (why is it always the same leg???) It went all along my calf and even into my thigh. I was screaming and crying, not a best start to the day. Afterwards, I couldn't walk down the stairs normally, had to walk backwards. My calf was sore all day yesterday, and tonight, still sore this morning, and there is bruising appearing as well.
So, even the consultant said she cannot give me quinine, I think the amount in the tonic water is safe enough, and I hope it will help a bit, as I really can't last another 12-14 weeks with cramps every night!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Happy birthday Triangle, and happy due date ravenlady!
The mum-to-be massage sounds lush, I'd love one of those! Have got a foot massage voucher though, actually, that I must book myself in for.
LOL at the fake tan and false nail thing! :rotfl: I don't wear either of those things anyway, so obviously wouldn't get it done for labour -but seriously?! People do that?! DH did actually ask me this morning what I was planning to "do" with my lady garden ready for giving birth.... I said naff all, but if they're lucky I'll hack at it with my bikini trimmer! I think it's already quite out of control TBH as I can't see it any more.... but out of sight, out of mind! :rotfl: I told DH if it offends him he can trim it for me!
Working from home this morning, then got this avo and monday off - can't wait, I really need it. Although the reason for having the time off is because my loft conversion starts this afternoon, so I doubt it'll be exactly restful!
Work has been a nightmare this week, one of my projects is on site and it's just going to be horrendous from start to finish - I know it. Got so stressed yesterday I had to have "words" with my boss's boss, nearly cried on him! Bless him though, he was very good and said he didn't want me getting stressed out, and that he'd have a chat with my boss about giving me more support
I'm 26w+1 and planning to finish on 17th May - a week and a day of annual leave, then start mat leave on the 28th I think it is. So I'll be about 36 weeks. I'm taking a full year off so don't feel the need so much to work right up to my due date, plus I don't think I'll be physically up to it. I've had a great pregnancy, apart from my back problems, but I do find work knackering already, and the commute is quite tiring.
Hope you all have a lovely day, labour vibes to those that need them, looking forward to some baby news soon....!

Lola - enjoy your last day at work. Xx
Had braxton hicks all morning keep hoping it turns into the real thing but it's not!!
Only 9 more days until I'm due do need to stay positive.
Going to pick the car seat up from grandparents today as I didn't bother in the week then that can be kept in the boot. Think I will leave the pushchair there until baby arrives as I font have much room in my house for it at the moment. Also need to drop my passport off to get signed.
Better start some house work or I will never get out!! Hope everyone has a good day
Labour vibes to the boldies and those who are due soon. Xx:)DS1 10yrsDS2 7yrs :)DS3 born March 2012

Just thought I'd add my opinion in. We've bathed Aaron every night since he was about a week old, with his reflux/wind etc he loves being in the bath. It's also wind down time, as afterwards he'l have a feed and then sleep for a good while, so I'd recommend that to anyone
R.e top and tail bowl, I use mine every dayI could use a tupperware dish or whatever, but I like my bowl, it has 2 ends and a wee dish thing in the middle for keeping cotton wool etc. Plus it's quite wide open, so the boiled water cools pretty fast in it, for washing his face.

I need to get to this today as well... Need to tidy up the kitchen, dining room, living room at least - have couple of friends coming on Sunday, and tomorrow we have a labour workshop at the hospital, so won't be much time. Need to think of what cake I would like to make for our meal as well!
I have so much stuff stored in the kitchen now, that I really need to get back some space in the garage, so I can store it there (all the washing powder & liquid I stocked up on, fabric softener - have enough for about 400 washes!). I keep looking around the house and keep thinking that I need to clean this and that, but still can't lift my fingers to do the work!
It just reminded me - I wanted to got a sealable box for storing the washing powder, as I am not very happy to keep it in the Fairy box.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Morning ladies. some of you may remember me from the TTC thread. I got my BFP back in October, and am now 25 weeks. I had a really rough time with sickness which ended up being treated with multiple medications etc but thankfully those days are now over. I have lurked and followed everyone since I got my BFP but I just havent logged in or posted since, I think i just needed some time to get my head and body sorted!
Anyway, I'm back and I have a question......my baby is very low and its causing me discomfort to say the least. I was practically in tears in bed last night as moving hurt so much. Baby could be felt around the middle/top of my pubic region and bikini area. I know for sure it was babay as i could feel them kicking my cervix and bowels! Now my question is - is it right for the baby to be sooooo darn low so early. Its been settling mostly in this position for weeks now, since about 19 weeks, DH say's its found its comfy spot, I am far from impressed. It does move up some times and often kicks around in the belly however they seems to always settle back down in by pelvis and it's blooomin painful. What does everyone think, is there any cause for concern? Is it normal? Is there anything I can do to move the wee dude up and away so I can get some rest?
Thanks for the advice ladies xxxx0 -
Hi Little Miss Giggle,
I experienced this too, asked the midwife at 24 weeks and she explained that because the uterus was still below my bellybutton area I was feeling all the movements very low down, seems to be perfectly normal, I always felt LO was most painful on my right side so lay on my back for five minutes, then on my left and she usually moved into a more comfy position x0 -
Eek, just looked at the list for the first time in a while, no longer lurking near the bottom then! Seven weeks til EDD, I'm getting so excited!
Yesterdays talk of MILs and mothers, mine are both saying they'll be around to help etc but I have a real thing about alone time with LO and DH, we get so little time together with each others work and study that when DH has his 2weeks paternity leave we really will want to be left alone for a bit so he can get that time with his baby, you don't get that time again when they're really little and i's precious time for us, neither of us are good at 'managing' family, we care too much about their feelings sometimes I think as both sets of parents are pretty sensitive types and feel pushed out easily, gonna be a real learning curve I reckon!0
