No problem
I know how expensive baby crap is, the amount of stuff we have that we don't use now or baby doesn't like is insane.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I'm just back from Derren Brown. It was good but I couldn't do any hypnotism stuff due to being pregnant.
Good news I was beaten by £1 to the second pillow! *phew* :rotfl:

I have bought a large washing up bowl and a sponge bath support like this:

Excpet i got mine in Tesco during the baby event for under £3!! I think they are about £5 full price in tesco. I'll use the washing up bowl while baby is tiny (it was good enough for me and DH when we were babies so it'll do for this one!) and then use the bath support once its a bit bigger and we're more confident.Hey
I'm due on 22nd June. I was planning to leave work on 18th May (35 weeks), take two weeks annual leave and start offical maternity leave on 4th June (37 weeks).
However I am now thinking of starting two weeks earlier, leaving at 33 weeks and maternity leave starting at 35 weeks. This will mean 8 weeks left at work which I think is more do-able for me at this time, in terms of both my physical and mental health. Do others think this sounds too soon? I know its ultimately my decision, but would appreciate some thoughtsMy head is such a jumble at the moment

I am 33 weeks today and could happily finish work despite having an easy pregnancy (physically atleast....despite all the scares we've had about the baby!). however that is partly due to having the world's most boring job!! I am finding that I struggle with the 6am get ups now though! As you're having problems with SPD etc. then you may well find 33 weeks is ideal. My only concern would be getting bored at home but as you've just been off for a while then you'll have an idea how well you can handle it. As much as I'm looking forward to finishing work I do think I'll be bored rigid at home for 4 weeks just waiting for baby to arrive! From the antenatal classes newborns should only have a bath once or twice a week according 2 my mw. Top and tail is for in between. No shampoo or wash or any bath products until they are a bit older as they're skin is 2 sensitive.
Now this is only my personal opinion and not meant to offend anyone but I just don't buy into all this clap trap they tell you about bathing them (or not)!! If the baby is dirty or smelly it'll get bathed, if it needs doing every day it'll get done every day. And if soap or whatever is needed to get it clean and sweet smelling then I shall use it. And top and tail bowls just seem ridiculous to me, surely all that is needed is a little common sense.....wash baby's face first then do its bottom half. That's what our parents did and it never harmed us. i know soooooo many people who've bought top and tail bowls and not used them more than once! Each to their own though, I do know how hard it can be to go against the advice that the 'professionals' give out as you don't want to do anything 'wrong' but I'm stubborn and hate being told what to do so I tend to smile sweetly, agree with everything they say and then do my own thing!!
Today is the last Friday that I have to work9 working days left after today. I'm meeting my friend for lunch today too, I'm intending going for something healthy but I do this everytime and then when I get there the words 'burger and chips please' just fly out of my mouth lol!

It really depends on the baby I think, mine does have very sensitive skin and comes out in spots very easily. He was sick down his front just as I was rushing out once, so I cleaned it with a pampers sensitive wipe... by the time I reached his appointment he was covered in spots! So I don't give him too many baths, and use baby oatmeal some of the time instead of baby bath stuff. But, we are an allergicy family in general!0

See that's fair enough as you have a reason to do or not do certain things, I think what gets my back up is the sweeping statements that assume all babies are the same and the seemingly over cautiousness that seems to have developed over the last few years where common sense has gone out of the window. i'm sure you'll have found that you just have to try things and stop them if they don't suit your baby. As much as I say I'll bath bay everyday if it needs it, if doing so was making its skin sore then I'd definately cut it down until such a point that its skin could cope....even if it wasn't quite as sweet smelling as I might like lol!!0
