Maybe TMI now but has anyone tried nipple stimulation to get things going?:o:D

Haha yes with DD3, gave me mild period type pains...that was it :( I think from reading about it, u need to use an electric breast pump every other hour for an hour at a time for it to even have a chance of working :o Dont think I have the time/patience to both with that! I did see on one of those American birth programmes a lady being induced, but b4 they gave her the gel they hooked her up to the breast pump for a bit to see if it did anything. It didnt tho

Have spent the last almost 3 hours cleaning the inside of my car! It wasnt that bad, just the neighbour was talking to me for an hour of that, then a friend phoned so i sat in the car talking to her for 1/2 hour haha! It still not great but will have to do! It goes back to FORDS in 2 weeks for us to get our new car :) xx

Was just going through my list again and wondered if anyone has any idea how many nappies is 'enough' to have ready prior to birth?
Don't want to end up with loads which then don't fit or suit the baby but obviously also need some - can send my OH or mum out to buy some after birth if need be but having some around seems like a good option.

Also, have people bought muslin squares and if so, where would you recommend getting them from?

Got 15 weeks yet (5/8s through pregnancy :j) but want to get bits and pieces as I go along so don't end up in a mad rush.

I got some muslin squares in Tesco baby event thing, they were really cheap. Can't remember the price now, but it was 6 muslins for something less than £2? Or maybe i am wrong. Well, they definitely where cheaper than the ones we saw in Mothercare last night for £10!!!!!

Nappy wise, sorry I can't really advise. We got about 50 micro nappies, 600 size 11 nappies, 100 size 2, 150 size 3. Will be getting some more in size 3, as still have some Huggies vouchers. But then we are expecting twins, which will probably be smaller than the average, and I think we will need all the size 1, maybe even more!

Still not ken on the food, but did make myself some plain pasta with a tiny bit of butter and grated parmesan to just keep myself going. I also need to take iron, and even though I shouldn't be taking it with the dairy products, I don't care this time.

In previous pregnancies i`ve only ever had 3-4 packs of newborn nappies in the house. This time however (and i`ll blame MSE and grabbits/vouchers/this forum!!) I have around 12 packs size 1, 6 packs size 2 and 4 packs size 3 so far, oh and 45 packs wipes hahah!!!

Muslins, i got mine in boots, think they were £4 ish for a pack of 3, but buy one get one half price. And the rest are sainsburys, tesco and asda. I also have one of those Tommee Tippee burping cloths? It was reduced from £10 to £1 in my local sainsburys lol x

If you're buying the Tesco muslins - if it's anything like our local store they have them in two locations - the not-cheap ones are with the babygros and the like, the cheap priced ones are over with the baby equipment. I got a fairly big pack in toys r us.

I've heard a figure of 10 nappies a day for newborns - dropping down to less as time goes on mooted around - although at the moment, despite having a mountain of wipes, I've only got a couple of packs in for fear of stockpiling some that end up not working for us.

Really need to get some heartburn stuff sorted out now - the one time I went into the chemists to ask about what I could take, the lass on the counter couldn't be bothered asking the pharmacist and just snarled at me to go see my GP - which put me right off asking again, but I've had night after night of it now and it's starting to annoy me!

Should NOT have crutched it to the papershop by the way - forgot how long a walk it was and am paying for it now!

  • Dizzi - I just use Rennie and that works for me. I've got packs of the stuff everywhere so it's easily at hand. Had some onions before and that has knocked me really bad. Feeling like ive swallowed vinegar xx

Id say we use between 8-10 nappies a day. Iv went through 1 small pack of pampers size 1's and 3 and a half double packs of pampers size 1's. He weighs 8lb 15oz now and I think we'l be onto size 2's shortly.

Muslins i bought a shedload and hes not a sicky baby at all, I find bibs easier as he cant yank them away.

  • I have got about 400 newborn nappies, and about 200 size 2 lol. Like to be prepared.

Not got any muslins cloths yet, I was waiting til I knew the flavour and didn't want everything in cream or white, but I guess one pack can't harm me......
  • Flutterby that is very organised. I think I've got about 4 packs and that's about it. I just don't know what size to buy. God I'm so unprepared.

I was kidknapped by the midwives today for an hour until i could produce more wee, my first sample from this morning threw up +++sugar so they wanted more, feeding me biscuits and cups of tea! The cheeky so and so's.

I think they were more interested in the contents of ds's nappy bag though, having a good look at the cloth nappies and wipes (i had some custom holdens landings and weenotions in there) the mw dragged a student in to change his nappy, its a small community wing and they had no appointments or patients in so they made her learn about cloth as an 'educational' part of her training, i think they just wanted to laugh at her trying to figure out what to do with a wriggly 12 month old and a cloth nappy.

It turned out she was the same student who was at the bigger hospital who stayed on during my labour with him, she didnt get to see him though as he took forever but she recognised my tattoo's and last name.

    Small world.

Ravenlady, how are things at home with your OH, hope you are ok today, been thinking of you.
