  • OH Asked me earlier, but now again if there is a male version of this forum? I don't know of any, but remember a while back someone mentioning a good site for daddy's to be. Or I think I did. He also asked of the daddy's were allowed to join the Facebook group lol! Think he knows that you've all been a great support network to me.

Can anyone recommend any sites/forums etc?

Right now my eyes are closing, night night xxx

Teddy has been asleep all day and is now wide awake. This is going to be a looooong night. Only had 3 hours sleep last night the little monkey! OH is back at work today, on nights so It's me and Teddy boy doing the night shift, nervewracking!!
No-one tells you how tired you're going to be all the time....lack of sleep is a nightmare!!

Seeing his little face makes up for it though :-) xxx

Hey kitten. Yeah I try to, grabbed an hour or so today once OH had dragged himself out of bed at 1pm! In between sterilising, washing, expressing, having a shower, making dinner......it got to 7.30pm and I realised I'd only had a bowl of bran flakes all day! Crazy. It's all worth it though, just can be overwhelming sometimes. Can't sleep? X

He'll come home and have to sleep so won't be getting any help there! Which is fair enough being on nights I suppose. What a crap shift they gave him on his first week back!! Well Teddy is wide awake and having his bottle. No sleep for mummy tonight then! Xx

MrsBryan I hope you managed to get some sleep in the end.

I've been awake for ages again, toothache and hayfever still going. Are we allowed paracetamol or ibuprofen in pregnancy? I have a phobia of medicine of any kind, so I never take anything at all. But I feel so wretched today that I need to break that rule.

LMM - congrats to your friend. My eldest is 8, but she is a walking disaster zone and tends to create more havoc than help. She does try very hard to help but her success is limited, and she tends to trip and break things. Both kids are keeping their bedrooms tidy now though which is something at least!

Ikkle - I understand the loneliness, being at home can be dull. Since having to quit uni I've had nothing to do whilst the kids are at school except wait for baby, so it feels like the longest pregnancy in the world. My friends live miles away and I miss having something to do, especially where I can't drive and get out at the moment. But as I keep telling myself it'll all be worth it in the end :)

  • Morning all! Just want to send out hugs to Ikkle, it's horrible when you feel low and don't have the energy to do anything. I hope you feel better soon.

As for useless OH's, mine went into a massive strop last night when we got back from the antenatal class and kept having a go at me about ridiculous things so I told him I wasn't sleeping in the same bed as him and went and slept on the sofa. Had a rubbish nights sleep and I am awake but very tired now. I'm still so angry at him, he tried to get me to come back to bed last night (but not very hard) and then think he felt guilty this am cos he was being nice to me before he left for work but I'm fed up of him taking things out on me and then just expecting everything to be ok later on.

Anway, antenatal class last night was fantastic! Last nights explained what happens during the different stages of labour and also looked at pain relief. She did mention that whole pooing yourself thing and said it was one of her biggest fears (she's had 4 children) but she also said whatever is in there is coming out so there really is nothing you can do and you should try to just accept that it might happen. Was interested in what happens with the various pain relief to - think it would be great if I can manage without pethidin and I don't want an epidural but again she said that it depends what happens at the time and what the circumstances are. She aslo told us about the thirs stage of labour where you deliver the placenta; apparetnyl they give you an injection of systemetrine (I think!) before baby is born - as soon as the baby comes ut they then clamp the umbilical cord and then the midwives will push down on your tummy and pull at the cord and it will come away in about 5 minutes. However, if you were left to do this naturally baby wuld get more blood into his system from the umbilical cord which is obviously better for them. They reckon even leacving the cord for a just a few minutes is more beneficial (it takes around 15mins for the blood to flow back into baby). The placenta then takes about 40 mins to come out, although she was asked if you could have the best of both worlds - so start the third stage naturally, keep umbilical cord untouched for 15 mins and then have the injection and she said yes. I am so pleased that I went along to the class as now at least I will know why things are happening the way that they are and I will understand why certain drugs are used and what the choices are.

Had to have a word with my neightbour when I got back - they've been giving tit-bits to one of my cats and she's been going into their house as a result! They did this before and it resulted in one of may cats practically living with them although I still had to feed her and take her to the vets when she was ill! Not having it happen again so had to tell them to stop doing this as she has a suspected medical condition (which is true) and I need to monitor exactly what she is being fed so we can assess it against her general health. Neightbour was nice and has said she won't give her anything - i also asked her not to let her in their house as I don't want a repeat performance of what happened with the other cat and she said she won't so hopefully that will sort it all out. I know that they are an animal loving family and that they don't mean any harm but cats are disrupted by te works round the house at the mo and I don't want them getting settled somewhere else!

Last rant - plasterer was due to start yesterday but we haven't been able to get hold of him so OH called round some others yesterday. One bloke came round to quote last night but said he can't fit us in for four weeks - I think the sight of the pregnant women and the upside down house got to him though cos ten mins after he left he phoned to say he would work the weekend to get the job done for us! Ah, my faith in human nature is restored!

Rant rant. Alarm woke me 645am. Just said goodbye to my weeto's and now on starvation diet for this darn evc at 2pm ... I'm useless at starving my blood sugars goes everywhere. Will be worse being pregnant mind! Ah well. Better trundle back to bed and try and get a couple more hours in and then get up. And try and potter around at things that avoid the kitchen and temptation to eat ... Anyone know what is included in a clear liquid diet? I can have clears until lunch time I guess. I know what to avoid which is the main bit but not what I can have.
