ohh talking of people saying stuff: last night i rang my mum and she said to be very careful what i eat, as from my 13 weeks scan the baby looks big (7.5cm) and she said i dont want to end up getting too big or i will have problems. gee. thanks mum. :(

also a woman at work the other said she was going to ask me how come i had put on weight? stupid people. i am sensitive about weight anyway but i said i have a good reason. ruuuudee!!

ok am hungry now. haha xxx

Tell them all to bog off! I have put on nearly 2 stone since 13 weeks (no idea what I weighed before I got pregnant but I don't think it was much less than at 13 weeks). I was quite shocked and was worried it was too much as I still have 10 weeks to go. I asked others how much they put on during their pregnnacy and it varied so much from those who put on very little to those who put on 3/4 stone and more. It depends on so many factors plus a lot of the extra weight will be baby, placenta and waters. The advice I was given was not to worry about it and just listen to my body. I'm not eating an excessive amount but I'm eating when I'm hungry. Don't listen to anyone else, it's non of their business. If you feel brave enough tell them how much it upsets you and just say something like "my midwife isn't concerned so neither am I. I trust her judgement more than someone with no training in the matter".

I have had lots of comments and I don't think it's because I look big I think people just think it's ok to say things like that to pregnant women. One friend said "oh it's ok to call pregnant women fat. I wouldn't say it to you after the baby if born!" !!!!!!?!

Rups this is me yesterday at 30 weeks having put on nearly 2 stone. I don't think I look fat so I think a lot of it is baby. Don't listen to anyone else, you know how you feel. Trust your body and eat when you need to.

thanks emsbet. that is really helpful. i have had such a weird relationship with my mum - being adopted etc and not fully bonding with her. i find it hard to even answer back but i did last weekend when at the walk she said to cover myself up esp as relatives will talk, and i said so what? i dont really care if they know i am pregnant! gosh Also at the weekend, my family were chatting about my cousin's wife and how big she had got and as a result she has to have a C section. it did annoy me when my mum said, be careful u dont the baby to be too big - according to the midwife she knows at her hospital. grrr i will say that about my mw knowing better. :) thanks hon.x

Lovely bump emsbet, can't believe your 30 weeks, where does the time the go!

Following on from the inappropriate comments when pregnant, last year when I started to tell people at work that I was expecting a work friend said to me 'ohh who's is it?!!' Rather insulting when she knows I've been with my hubby for years!! She also said the first time I took Poppy to work 'I've got you a present but didn't want to give it to you because I thought Poppy was going to die!'

She isn't really a friend any more! :rotfl:

I can be a bit... narky at times, and when we saw my mum on Monday night she even asked if she could touch it! I was like, yes, of course, you're fine - it's strangers that I'm not a fan of invading my personal space! It's ok, DH tells me I walk around with a face on quite frequently so hopefully I'll scare them all off.

That's rubbish, I was big and my mother isn't large at all. Does she suggest you take up smoking too? One of the sure-fire ways to reduce birth-weight...

I shouldn't have been surprised, she has always says the most inappropriate things, she seems to be missing the ability to not always say the first thing that pops into her head!

We really can't win when it comes to the weight thing eh? I am constantly being told I don't look pregnant (27 weeks) and am haven't put on enough weight. I don't know how much I weighed before, and I don't now. Everything except bump seems the same size and really I don't care what people think but yet still have cried about it to OH (pathetic I know).

Rups you seem so excited about the baby (of course) don't let anyone get to you!

Oh one more thing - anyone NOT decided or really discussed names? We have a small list of names we don't hate but haven't looked at it for weeks and nothing on the list stands out for me. How many more name books am I going to have to read?
