AMC are you local to Aylesbury? I'm in Hemel so not too far (I think lol)
NCT I'm thinking of joining too, think its £4 a moth and they seem to have lots on like coffee mornings etc
I grew up in Hemel and my family are still there! Whereabouts are you? I grew up in L. Green but my family is in Boxmoor now. One of my sisters had a baby this year and has gone to lots of the Nct groups
LittleMoog we used to live in Sandy, and my daughter was born in Bedford Hospital. Is that where you are having your baby?
Yeptake it from the wicksteed park reference that you're going to Kettering this time?

Generally you do only get the 2 hun the 12 week and the 20 week scan. Some people get extra ones if there has been problems in a previous pregnancy, problems in this pregnancy or if the baby appears to be growing at a different rate to how they should be. ie if you were measuring big for your dates.
...Or, if you're really lucky, a third routine scan is offered to everyone as standard to check growth. My hospital does this at 30-32 weeks - it was great to see baby for a third time and also to confirm that she was definitely a she!Although they scared me a little bit by telling me that the baby was big!...
Never ceases to amaze me how different areas do things differently though - there's another hospital nearby, but in a different London borough, that doesn't offer third scans as standard. Why the same service can't be offered across the country is beyond me!0 -

Oh wow, I didn't know anywhere did that. Our hospital only do the 2 standard scans but I've got a growth scan at 28 weeks and one at 34 weeks. How big was your baby?
I know what you mean about different hospitals and area's we were in a different district till 16ish weeks and things are very different here imo. xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

She was 8 lbs 6oz - smaller than they had predicted, but still pretty big! But in the end I had a c-section anyway, so it didn't really matter - apart from the fact newborn clothes lasted all of two weeks, and the moses basket is already looking a bit small. Not very MSE!...0 -

Aw she wasn't that big then really, I'm thinking my bubs will be long but I dunno about size wise, I'm chunky his dads skinny but we are both over 6ft. It's good to hear that she fit in newborn though as all my family keep telling me not to buy newborn cos my baby will never fit in them etc and it's quite depressing really, it's like they expect him to come out of me 5ft10 and with size 7 feet or something. I've ignored them anyway and bought a few Asda firstsize bits. Not loads just a couple sleepsuits and a couple of bodysuits.
Babies aren't supposed to be MSE lol, I bet you don't mind though really xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Yup, Aida in the case of mine we had a termination last September due to our baby having Edwards syndrome - which is a chromosome abnormality, it was identified at the time with 2 soft markers in our 13 weeks scan, one was its bowel hadnt dropped into its belly and remained in the cord and the other was the cord only had 1 artery instead of the expected 2.
This time round our 13 week scan showed that again we have only 1 artery in the cord, we have had an amnio to rule out any chromosome abnormalities but I requested the additional growth scans as baby can sometimes be effected by only having 1 artery in the cord. Also can lead to premature labour and heart and kidney problems.
(here they dont scan the cord as part of a routine scan so most wont even know there was the potential for a problem, in America they take it more seriously and scan every week for the last 6 or something daft. )
We will have another at 34 weeks to check his progress.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -

Well if on,y they'd told be that! Was planning on taking a can of coke
but being me I forgot it. I will be on a sugar high on Thursday!
LittleMoog my FIL lives in Levy Green, we bought a house in W Farm. I've reliably informed it's not as rough as it once was, very quiet here. I on,y moved to Hemel about 5 yrs ago to be with OH. Would be weird if I know some of your family! Although I don't really know anyone here...still.

little_miss_moneysaver I'm in Wendover, Bucks, not far away from Aylesbury. I had to go to Aylesbury for the NHS antenatal classes. I'm not from here though, I grew up in Birmingham and used to live in London, but my husband was living here when I met him so now so am I! He's from Wales. Of course it means none of our parents are local ...
Mrs Bryan I read out your birth story to my husband. I'm a bit scared! I'm thinking about all of the aspects of the birth too much. And it's scary that the waters could go any day now (although I'm sure more likely once I get a week away from due date). Also ... argh, I'll have a baby at the end of it all. It is such a life-changing event. I really don't think I'm qualified but I guess I'll muddle through somehow with the help of my husband
They didn't offer me more than the 2 scans so I haven't seen baby since 20 weeks. I do know he's a boy though. He definitely kicks (or punches?) me more on my right side. I get a lump sticking out there quite often!0 -
I'm
On a bloody boat. My cabin won't stop vibrating and I can't sleep. As my daughter is with me I can't even go for a wander around the boat grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Plus if I don't sleep in the next five hours I will never be fit to drive four hours home in morning grrrlove you lots like jelly tots0 -
RJhugs, hope you got some sleep! Insomnia has got me again for the last two nights - awake at 3am and not getting back to sleep! Will have to have afternoon nap to compensate!
Thanks to those that requested cheeky wipes code - I've forwarded it on to you!
