Thanks little_miss_moneysaver and jediquigley for the advice!
I think I will ring the midwife (the more helpful one) and see what she says. I'm probably worrying unnecessarily – trouble is you don't know when you might give birth!
LittleMoog are you in Aylesbury? Just wondered as there was an NCT sale there today. I am a member but I didn't go today as we have been given so much stuff for free. The only thing we need to get really is a cot when baby is too big for moses basket.
Aida I can highly recommend swimming. I haven't been doing any exercise in pregnancy since I got bigger apart from some pregnancy yoga and swimming, oh and general walking. I figure that's enough!
No, we're in Bedford, and the sale was in MK! DH works near Aylesbury thoughLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Of course, the NCT have loads of sales up and down the country, I'm sure many are on the same day! *pregnancy brain* :rotfl:0 -
Evening all!
Well bubba was a naughty boy! He was facing my back the whole timehowever he had a good look at him in the normal black and white scan. He's on the slightly larger side of average but well within 'normal' limits. He's still a boy too! So we're going back on Thursday for another try. Was gutted and almost in tears though at the time. Did get our cuddly bear with a recording of his heart beat though
Rebekah big hugs Hun, I'm also dreaming of the perfect nursery before the baby arrives. I dread after he comes we'll be busy To sort it out. You don't sound stuck up at all. But I agree, there's no point getting everything organised in the room then have to empty it whilst carpet is being fitted. How long is MIL staying? Extra stress
little Moog sounds like you got some great bargains at the sale. Think the next one here is October/November. Still I really don't think I need to much more at this time.
AMC are you local to Aylesbury? I'm in Hemel so not too far (I think lol)
NCT I'm thinking of joining too, think its £4 a moth and they seem to have lots on like coffee mornings etc
KatyLiz Ikea is just amazing, might have a look at cots there before we decide. Currently love one in babies are us but it's not cheap. Did you see any cot beds?
SM how's your throat? Hope you're feeling better
Sorry if I forgot anyone there, just skimming whilst OH makes tea.
We joined Costco today. OH seemed to be under the impression that nappies were really cheap there. Didn't seem that cheap to me though. We literally joined at 5:45 so dashed to the bakery section as closes at 6pm. Whilst OH was joining they let me whizz around in my chair to look at stuff so have a list to back with tomorrow. Some things don't seem too much cheaper, especially if you don't buy branded stuff anyway. I love grocery shopping so I'm very excited!
Hugs to anyone that's needs one and labour vibes to those who want them xx:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Hi everyone!
Hope you are all well
Thought I would stop by while Teddy is sleeping to write my birth story, I know there used to be a seperate thread but people seem to be writing them on here! Will try to keep it short because I could go on forever about it!
Woke up at 3.45am Monday morning by a pain that literally made me sit up straight in bed....then I heard a 'pop' and quickly jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom where my waters started to gush!
Woke up OH who ran around getting everything together while I called the hospital. They told me to put a pad on and make my way in in an hour. My waters were gushing so much I had to change leggings twice and about 10 pads! Kept them all to show midwives though as the plug had started to come away too.
Honestly couldnt believe how much water was coming out, had to sit on a bath towel in the car and keep it in between my legs while waddling to the Maternity unit! Thank god it was empty at 5am!
Was put on the monitor when I got there, everything was ok, was examined and told I was 1cm and to go home, take co-codomel and come back when 'your climbing the walls with pain'! Great!
So home we went at 6am, the co-codamel made me v drowsy so was sleeping in between contractions which were getting stronger all the time. At about 9.30am they were gettin really painful and coming every 3 minutes, lasting for a minute each. Tried to get up and walk around but was more comfortable sitting in bed and breathing through them (this worked wonders for me.....like someone has said before, imagine a wave going over you and breathe through it). OH phoned the hospital and they said the same again, come in in an hour.
Then I had an overwhelming urge to push and a bit of blood came out with my waters (which were still coming out!) so OH said, thats it we're going in now.
The 7 minute car journey seemed to take forever and the only parking was on the top roof of the multi storey so I had to walk quite a way having contractions! I lost count of the amount of people who wished me luck as I was walking in!
Was examined at 11am and told I was 7cm dilated which was great, I said I really needed some gas and air so was taking to delivery suite 7 and got straight on the stuff.......it was AMAZING!! Really helped me with every contraction, it just took the edge off so I could concentrate and breathe.
Had a lovely midwife and student midwife who were brilliant and stayed with me all the time.
OH struggled seeing me in pain and felt a bit useless but just having him there was enough. Midwives said to stand up and walk about to get gravity going but I couldn't, I was sat on the bed with my legs over the egde and it was really comfy I felt in control. Midwife said that baby can't be born that way and to try on all fours. I ended up hanging over the head of the bed on all fours, sucking on that gas and air like a junkie!
At about 1pm I started to get the urge to push and was informed I was fully dialated so push away!
An hour later of hard pushing, Teddy was born! He pooed on the way out and had the cord wrapped round his neck and body, luckily because I was facing away I didn't see any of that but OH did and he got really upset. All I kept asking was, is he ok, is he ok? A massive cry told me he was fine and he was placed on me with the cord still attatched. OH was sobbing!
He said that it was magical, the most amazing thing ever.
I didn't have the injection to make the placenta come quicker and delivered it about 40 minutes later which was a weird sensation and I couldn't believe how huge it was! And disgusting haha. Also had a 2nd degree tear that had to be stitched up but that was fine didn't even really feel it.
An hour later I was in the post natal ward eating sausage and mash and all our family and friends were visiting!
Had to wait until 1.30am Tues morning to be discharged as my pulse was high and my iron low so had to be double checked over, but couldnt wait to get home. Just got to take iron tabs for 3 months as lost quite a bit of blood.
Teddy is now 5 days old and apart from the breast feeding not going quite right, everything is perfect and the whole experience was amazing. I'd do it all again tomorrow!Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference0 -
Aww what a shame that your little boy wouldn't face the right direction for you littlemiss - will they charge you for going back, or is it free as he wasn't around the right way? Fingers crossed it's the latter and next time he's facing forwards. Thanks for asking about my throat. The doctor said that although my throat was very red, that the tonsils weren't enlarged, and that they try to avoid giving pregnant ladies antibiotics as much as possible (even though the ones I've had in the past for a UTI are ok during pregnancy). Luckily having had the last couple of days off from work (not using my voice), it seems to be getting better so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that when I'm working on Monday afternoon that it doesn't set my recovery back again.
Well must dash as Moon has just put dinner on the table.
Hugs to all who need or want them, and labour vibes where appropriate.

MrsBryan I'm glad that your labour went so well and you found it such a positive experience
little_miss_moneysaver I'm not sure about cot beds. I'm not going to get one, so I didn't really look out for them. The little toddler beds Ikea do are great, my daughter had one, so I want to go for the cot then little bed option. What a shame the scan didn't work out. That's great that they offer you another chance though. Hope it goes better Thursday.
LittleMoog we used to live in Sandy, and my daughter was born in Bedford Hospital. Is that where you are having your baby?Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
Mishka, great news that your scan went well
. Why you had a scan at 28 weeks? I thought we only get 2 from NHS.
Generally you do only get the 2 hun the 12 week and the 20 week scan. Some people get extra ones if there has been problems in a previous pregnancy, problems in this pregnancy or if the baby appears to be growing at a different rate to how they should be. ie if you were measuring big for your dates. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx

Great birth story Mrs Bryan! Love the name
Is it short for Theodore?
I'm 26 weeks and 2 days today. Does anyone else find their baby tends to go and sit on one side of your tummy making it stick out at a strange angle. Its every time I bend down, I can feel him shift and it actually makes in painful to stand up straight. He usually does the same after sex too. Its like he's trying to get out - but through my belly button!
Oooooh I have a 4D scan at 28 weeks. Literally cannot wait! x0 -
Money puddle my baby likes the right hand side, often is solid and more sticky out. At times looks bit freaky lol. For your 4d take some ice cream or cold sugar drink incase baby needs to be prompted to move.
SM yes it's free to goo back. Not sure how many times You can go back though. Tried cold drink, only water though. They sold choccy there so ate some, walked about as much as cold, prodded my belly and weed but still he wouldn't move. So 1.5 hours later we gave up
KatyLiz I think we've decided to have a cot bed. Wasn't sure at first, but OH is really keen and we have room in the bedroom for one. We always whizz through the kids section, but last time we had a browse. So many lovely things to decorate rooms and storage ideas, just wonderful. We'd been given a free cot so didn't look at them at all, just at mattresses. Will have a look online.
MrsB that sounds like a lovely birth. Sounds like you coped really well with it. And little Teddy is just gorgeous:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Oh yes they've advised lucozade, skittles and a chocolate bar in the hour leading up the scan, plus very cold water when I arrive at the clinic, to make sure he's "performing!" Not sure if ice cream would work as I've got a 40 min drive to get there haha x0
