I do think it has a lot to do with different areas/hospitals. In my notes it says to be weighed at booking app, then again at 38 weeks. Didn't think much of it to be honest but when she said about the epidural/GA, it made me wonder about everyone else? I know if they put you completely out they have to know your weight to give you the correct amount so you dont wake up in the middle of the procedure, but interesting about the epidural? Maybe it will just wear off quicker if they dont give you enough for your weight? I dunno!

*Nutella*, I've heard that actually. Between the baby, waters, placenta and everything else, that does take up a lot of the weight! And I agree about the boobs too haha!
I'm not fussed, it will get lost when I lose it, I'm in no hurry either. Just wondered what everyone elses experiences were!

Plus the fact we conceived on honeymoon, so when we came back I was a stone (yes, a stone, eek!) heavier from 2 weeks in Mexico eating gourmet food and drinking cocktails! Didn't get a chance to lose it!
Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference :)

MrsB - I think I have put on about 6kg so far but has taken me a long time to show and grow so expecting to put a bit more on in the next few weeks. I started at 57kg but had lost about 4kg just before pregnancy and during first 8wks wasnt trying too it just kind of happend that way. I think it was due to making a concious effort to eat and drink properly even though my general diet is good anyway.
I think its MW specific as my first one weighed me every time then i have had a new MW for last 2 check ups and no weight check at all.
I will see what happens when i get my 3rd and hopefully final MW in july

Ah made him empty the room last weekend! It's all empty now. Little lady has a winnie the pooh theme. So half will be lilac and half lemon with a border across the middle :D

That's sounds lovely. We're doing ours blue on the bottom and off white at the top. We've a bear theme, yet to find a nice border. Did see some on eBay but I'd like to see it in the flesh IYSWIM before I buy loads.

I've not really weighed myself either, I just don't want to be worrying about it at this stage. I had to weight myself about four weeks ago and put on 4kgs so about 8.8lbs. Not sure how much it's meant to be for this stage. The horrible stretch marks have properly started and are invading rather rapidly up my belly :( bit late for the old bio oil now I think. But I knew they'd appear at some point.
A few people have told me I do look very big for my weeks. I know everyone if different, but there were a lot of nurses there on Thursday and when I said I was 27 weeks they were shocked as they thought I was about to give birth in the next few weeks. It's a pretty solid bump and I don't feel I've put on lots around my hips/bum. Maybe he'll just be a big baby but the 20 weeks scan was average. The GP measured bump a couple of weeks ago, but didn't write the actual number down. Seeing the midwife and consultant a week on Tuesday so will ask them.
I know for general anaesthetics they like a weight, although if there's not one they just have to estimate.

Just went into town. Got OH a tshirt with Homer Simpson on saying sugar daddy, he's eating a doughnut lol. Very OH, we got doughnuts on the way home, but they've gone :o got a little daddy to be card too :) think he'll be chuffed tomorrow.
Bought loads of fruit, it all looks too tempting, cherries, strawberries, peaches MMM MMM MMM! Think I'll chill with my bag of cherries and watch a bit of tele whilst I recover from my wanders :)

Mrs Bryan, I can totally see how Mexico could do that to you - the food and drinks are amazing! But hey, if you're going to put on weight, I'd say Mexican gourmet food and cocktails is a far better reason than multipacks of Toblerone... :o

    At 36wks I am now ca 4kg (8.8lb) heavier than I was at 10wks.

I was woken up by a massive painful BH today. Got up for a pee, waited for the pain to disappear and went back to sleep. An hour later was woken by another painful BH. Again pee and back to bed. An hour later... another painful BH! I was starting to get worried but luckily no more BH after that. My hospital bag is not packed (don't have a bag yet and don't know what clothes to pack plus baby clothes are not washed) so it would've been pretty bad if we had to go to the hospital unprepared.

I've a question re baby clothes - when do you wash and iron them? If I do it at 36weeks will they be ok in 4-6 weeks time for the baby to wear or will I need to redo them so that they're freshly washed when the LO arrives?

I washed mine at around 34 weeks (I like to be prepared for every eventuality!) and they were still nice and fresh when baby arrived at 40 + 4. It's not so much that they need to be super-fresh, it's more that you want to get rid of any chemicals and loose threads looming in newly bought clothes, so I decided to just get it done sooner rather than later. As for ironing - never! :D

rjh. Please talk to a midwife urgently about the fluid leaking. It could be your amniotic fluid and if your membranes have ruptured your baby may be at risk of serious infection. Take care x

This - it's very easy for them to tell if it's amniotic fluid as well - they can just swab with something that looks exactly like the el-cheapo ebay pregnancy tests and it comes up with the two lines if it's very likely amniotic fluid... which is what ended up happening to me.

Turtle - there's a Birth Trauma Association facebook group I found really helpful in terms of starting to process what went on with Erin's birth (I've only reallly begun to start to do so now if we're honest) - while I agree with you on the "your labour, your choice" idea... when I tried to exercise my choice - the effers called social services on me - I don't think I'll ever move on from the anger I feel over that (my birth epic-saga is in this thread somewhere around Easter time). Like you - I'm convinced lots of the difficulties we had could have been avoided (she'd still have been 33 weeks gestation no matter what though) if they'd allowed me to remain mobile and stay more upright and I'm flipping well angry about it (as a follow-up note - I appear to have some long-term damage caused by it all - I get pain in one of my hips if I do a lot of walking - waiting to see what the physio says end of the month but it's not as if I'm in a position to sue the hospital unfortunately).
Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!
