little_miss_moneysaver: are the crutches due to SPD? And where does it hurt? I'm starting to worry about my bum-twinges - they started in both bumcheeks but seem to have settled in my right-hand cheek... I'm only 16 weeks. So far it's not bad but seems to be getting a bit more persistent... Can't imagine baby is pushing on my nerve already, as it's only supposed to be avocado-sized today, but given the size of my bump I guess anything is possible!
It also gets worse when you have had a really busy day of non stopness. As does hip pain if you have that ...

Wow, lots of news!
Congratulations whowants2brich!! Hope the feeding takes off for you both soon! And well done to your Mrs!
BB ooooooh how exciting!! Hopefully won't be too long for you now! Look forward to hearing your news!
Betty, maybe because you were at the hospital? My results went straight to my doctor and I had a phone call to go in and pick up a prescription for iron tabs. I know things differ in different areas too!
My midwife recommended I keep taking Pregnacare too for the Vitamin D so I feel like I'm walking around rattling at the moment!
choclover hope things start happening for you soon, I bet you are getting fed up. I'm getting impatient and I've got 2 weeks till due date!
Gonna have some left over lasagne from last night and a bit of salad for my lunch. No cake left in the house today! Although its my nephews 15th birthday today so will be going to see him later, hopefully there will be some sort of cake there!Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference0 -

Thanks Rebekah.. No hip pain as yet, just the bum twinges. I asked my SIL yesterday (she's a doctor) which nerve it would be if I was feeling twinges there and she said the sciatic nerve, so I figured I might be heading towards a problem here... Thankfully it is fine while cycling and I cycle to work and back (and hope to do so throughout, but we'll see if my balance gives in the last trimester!) but it can begin to twinge a little if I do a lot of walking.0

I had quite bad sciatica from early on but it didnt last long, even though baby is not very big at the early stages i think they are just in the wrong place,

Afternoon ladies
Had a nasty shock at the supermarket last night, I was pushing the trolley back to the car and one of the wheels caught in a HUGE pothole, so it stopped dead. I was looking the other way and careered straight into the handle, and almost tipped the whole trolley over :eek:The guy collecting the trolleys came running over to see if I was ok, and then went to get a cone to put on the pothole. Managed to get back to the car and unpack my shopping before I burst into tears, but it was such a shock and my tummy was so sore for the rest of the evening that I felt quite grottyseems ok now though, think I must have pulled all the ligaments etc. Luckily due to my belly flab I think baby is well cushioned!
Good luck BB, sending big labour vibes your way hope you'll be having mummycuddles very soon.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

"PGP is often misdiagnosed as sciatica. Only a few women, just one per cent, have sciatica during pregnancy. We now know that most lower back or leg pain in pregnancy is PGP.
If you feel pain on or around your pubic bone at the front, you may have symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), a condition to do with ligaments in another part of your pelvis.
What are the symptoms of PGP?
The pain is often one-sided and may be concentrated in your buttocks. It may appear to jump from side to side or be accompanied by a general back pain or pain at the front of your pelvis.
It can send shooting pains into your buttocks or down the back of your legs. You may also have pain in your hips. One or both of your legs may feel very weak and you may not be able to lift your legs, particularly when lying down. "0 -

Hi Savage!
Yes I've got them for SPD. I've had crutches and been off work since 19 weeks, but struggled from early on. The ligaments in my joints are "loose" anyway and I've had bad hips for years. We knew it was going to end up in severe SPD. It's the relaxin hormone that starts making the hip ligaments looser for child birth that causes the problem so now they're super clicky and wobbly. I get burning/grating pain kinda in my groin but deep in my hip sockets. Also sharp pain around the iliosacral joints and dull/sharp pain in the bum/lower back muscles.
It could be the start of SPD, may be worth trying to get a referral to a physio for some exercises to strengthen the joints before it gets too bad. Your midwife may be able to recommend exercises. I think some ladies on here have had trouble getting a referral to a physio early on, I was referred and seen at 16weeks. Although my consultant reffered me so I don't know if that makes any difference.
Dont know if that is of any help. Long ramblings these days.
Kitten I bet you enjoyed them thoughjust had the last of my Cadbury caramel cake bars and it was super yummy
