Twinklie I know how horrible an email like that can be. At least it was an email and not a phone call putting you on the spot.

Get signed off and just be very factual with them.

I agree with Kitten. get your sick note from Dr

    How annoying for you

Just an update from a grumpy labouring boldie.
I started a slow evil back labour yesterday at 3pm, getting to 2 in 10 minutes and got to hosp about 10pm only to be told by an abrupt and quite flippant midwife I was only 1cm dilated as she waggled the 1 finger at me (hilarious you will all agree!!!) and made to feel like !!!!!! by a receptionist because in the rush to get my DD to my Mum's we didn't phone ahead.
Had excellent midwives last time out but last night I decided I'd rather take my chances at home than meet the horror that examined me earlier in the night.:( Might complain later on - she was truly awful and hope you all get better professional care.
No sleep all night - just faffing with my Mama Tens (wished I'd stuck with the idiot-proof Elle Tens) and now just groaning over a ball with the same rectal pain I had last time. Sorry if TMI.:o
Got a sweep in 2 hours so we'll see if I'm any nearer...If I'm still failing to progress I'll have to forego a VBAC and demand the section.

Some women must just be rubbish at labouring and it looks like I'm one of them but I'd be first for a medal for pointless fast and frequent contractions.

Please urge my lazy cervix to open.

    Please ladyleg's cervix OPEN!!!:rotfl:

Sexymouse - just a thought but is your bra supportive enough? That might affect your back
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good luck ladylegs - hope things are progressing a bit more for you now and you get a nice midwife.

Just got home from work, and back has been killing me since yesterday - hardly slept, and it still hurts. :( Spoke to midwife about it last week and she said it's too early to refer me to a physio, but I'm hoping by my 28 week appointment that I'll be far enough along for them to do something. On a positive note though, I took my 40mg of omeprazole this morning, and touch wood, things seem to be going well. I haven't had to take any Gaviscon yet either, so will see if this continues after dinner too. I've been able to eat cake mid-morning at school too. :j Will be great if I only have to take one thing, as carrying the bottle of Gaviscon around with me when I go out anywhere isn't easy. :o

Also had a boy in my class who may have slapped cheek (his brother is off with it), and the school came into my class to tell me this afternoon - they were most concerned and said I could go home straight away if I wanted to, but I told them that I've had the tests and I'm immune, so I think they were really relieved - the Mum hadn't let them know what the other son was off with until nearly the end of the day!

Well I'm off to lie down and see if that relieves the pain between my shoulders.

Hugs and labour vibes where wanted.

    sexymouse xx

that is so irresponsible of the mum. how annoying. Glad you didn't have anything to worry about though.

    hope your back pain improves.

I know what you mean about carrying around gaviscon. My GP prescribed me a 500ml bottle of it. It's great but a bit heavy in my handbag :rotfl:

I was thinking bout going student but I would worry I would want to buy stuff and I have everything now lol. Do u think there will be any freebies?

I went to the baby show at London Excel. There weren't many freebies to be honest. I got a MAM bottle and 2 avent dummies. My BIL went about 4.5 years ago and got tons of freebies. I guess it's just a sign of the times. :(

  • Hi Ladies,

Well after my flight to Glasgow, I can definitely recommend NOT getting on a flight when you are 27 weeks pregnant! I am absolutely shattered, although that may also have something to do with being awake from 3am! The flight itself wasn't too bad, but baby kicked loads so either he loved it or hated it, I'm not quite sure which! But it was the descent that made me feel really ill and I thought I may actually throw up at one point but thankfully we landed and my lunch was still inside me. Felt better once I was out of the plane, but not looking forward to the return visit tomorrow.

Added to that, feeling a bit stressed about my meeting tomoorow as it's quite important but I have NO support back at the office because my boss has taken the day off and the only other two people that know anything about the project are on leave as well! Project starts on Monday and client has sent some emails whilst I was on flight asking for info and stating works may not be able to go ahead with it all! Today has made me realise that maybe it would not be a bad thing if I didn;t go back to this job after baby is born! OH wants me to stop at home in any case and I hadn't really decided either way (was just going to see how things went) but now I am thinking that maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing to let go!

Ladylegs - I hope your cervix opens up soon!

Sexymouse - hope the pain in your back eases up.

I'm sure there were other things that I wanted to say, but my brain has gone to mush so I am going to get an early night! Sweet dreams all! x

Good luck tomorrow Miss Monkey Moo. Hope the meeting isn't too intense.

Fingers crossed the flight home will be better.

    Night night sleep tight.

Thanks for all of the wishes for my back. Initially when I first started getting the pain, I thought it was because my bras had got too tight (ones that were just non-wired t-shirt bras fitted by M&S). I went to Mothercare then and got some proper maternity bras fitted. However, they've now got a bit small around the band (still fit in the cup), so I got a bra extender, as I was fed up with buying bras! That helped a lot, so I think now, it's just a case of the shape of my back changing due to the weight of bump on the front, and my posture changing. I've certainly noticed that my balance isn't so good now (eg. when crouching down to the cereals cupboard, I nearly toppled over backwards, and had to hang onto the worktop - think I'll get my box out and leave it on the worktop now). It seems to be worse on days where I've had to bend a lot - eg today I was working with infants, so small tables and chairs and bending down to hear the quiet ones when they speak. Will speak to the midwife at my next appointment on 29th June, and see what she says if it's still bad.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

MMM, you don't happen to be a civil engineer or similar, do you? Just that certain things you've said about your job sound quite similar to mine! :)

Sorry the flight was rubbish, hopefully homebound flight will be better. Hope you sleep well.
