Twinklie I know how horrible an email like that can be. At least it was an email and not a phone call putting you on the spot.

Get signed off and just be very factual with them.

They can't phone me...my home and mobile phones have both broken!!! Ha ha ha. They both died on me yesterday within an hour of each other.

Apparently they appear to have sorted out my maternity leave (all a bit hush hush), so I'm wondering if they are wondering whether this chap can start now or not. I've told them I'm telling them what I know and I know nothing. I just know I'm not meant to be at work. I'll go to the consultants tomorrow and then pop by my GP's to request a sick note. I've had my 5 days of self cert now anyway.

As long as you are keeping them up to date (whether that is telling them nothing because you know nothing) then you are in the right and I wouldn't worry. (easier said than done)

For the past few days I've been having a sharp stabbing pain but it's hard to explain where it is. Kind of like at the bottom of your groin where the bikini line is? Almost where the bladder would be? See, hard to describe! lol. I also have a very painful lower back but I don't know if both together are normal or not. It's so bad that I can't stand up properly (well I can't anyway but this is in a different way, if that makes sense?) and it's worse when I go to the toilet but I have no burning or anything so don't think it's a UTI.

Not sure if it's normal or not. =/

Lady M, I have had a similar pains which have been stretching etc however if you are worried as always call the midwife. UTI's can show themselves in different ways, I have had a couple but no pain on peeing or anything that made me think I had one.

Just an update from a grumpy labouring boldie.
I started a slow evil back labour yesterday at 3pm, getting to 2 in 10 minutes and got to hosp about 10pm only to be told by an abrupt and quite flippant midwife I was only 1cm dilated as she waggled the 1 finger at me (hilarious you will all agree!!!) and made to feel like !!!!!! by a receptionist because in the rush to get my DD to my Mum's we didn't phone ahead.
Had excellent midwives last time out but last night I decided I'd rather take my chances at home than meet the horror that examined me earlier in the night.:( Might complain later on - she was truly awful and hope you all get better professional care.
No sleep all night - just faffing with my Mama Tens (wished I'd stuck with the idiot-proof Elle Tens) and now just groaning over a ball with the same rectal pain I had last time. Sorry if TMI.:o
Got a sweep in 2 hours so we'll see if I'm any nearer...If I'm still failing to progress I'll have to forego a VBAC and demand the section.

Some women must just be rubbish at labouring and it looks like I'm one of them but I'd be first for a medal for pointless fast and frequent contractions.

Please urge my lazy cervix to open.

I've been getting this when I stand up too quickly, or cough/sneeze unexpectedly :o I also get it when I wee sometimes, especially if my bladder is very full - I think it's the ligaments stretching as bladder deflates and womb sinks back down a bit, iyswim?

edit: I sneezed in the office a few weeks ago and then shouted OW! really loudly due to ligament pain and 3 blokes came running to see if I'd gone into labour or something :rotfl:

((hugs)) ladylegs, sounds rubbish :( Hope things get going soon.

Oi, ladylegs' cervix - get your act together! Dilate already!

RE fathers' day - I've just been for a little walk up to the card shop and bought a card for my dad and one for DH. But I'm kind of working on the basis that I might have a baby by Sunday (hopefully!) God I'm so hormonal, was almost blubbing in the shop at all the soppy messages. Settled on a really cute one for DH that's got a daddy lion and a baby lion on it :)

BTW the kittens are SO CUTE! I want to eat them.
