Not moaning Gilly
Definitely one thing I've learnt listening to you all though is that it's bloody hard work but so very worth it. It's ok to feel fed up and tired and like you want to hide in the cupboard under the stairs especially in the early days. It doesn't mean you are a bad mother or doing something wrong but that you are just normal and that there will be bad days but there will also be some wonderful, fabulous moments too. I don't think anything can prepare you for it all completely but I personally am someone who would rather be as prepared as possible and get as much knowledge about it all as possible to better prepare myself.
The lady at the class may not have put it in the best way but she was just trying to prepare you all that it's not all roses and it's perfectly ok to feel fed up. I personally think that better than someone telling you that it will all be wonderful and you were love your baby the instant you see it because then you would just feel even worse about yourself if it doesn't happen. My friend told me it took her a good few days before she even started to feel that rush of overwhelming love.

god i hate that at antenatal classes - mine scared me so much i didnt go back for the last two!
honestly girls its just not that bad - labour sucks but Mother Nature soon has you forgetting it (im going back for my third anyway). I firmly believe the key is good support from hubby, mam, family, friends, whoever. little things like hubby getting up in the night when you feed just so you dont feel quite like the only person in the world who is awake. If you have mam/friends to take some laundry, let them, take all offers of help that sounds good. bit of fresh air will do everyone good each day. when you think you look a bag of crap, sunnies and lipgloss definitely help when you head out for your fresh air.
stuff classes dont tell you:
your ladybits will feel really weird - i never had the soreness but i felt completely numb, which was completely odd.
you belly will look inexplicable. it goes down pretty swift tho.
your boobs will leak insanely
people will annoy you, particularly MIL's:rotfl:0 -
We just finished our antenatal classes this evening and they've been fabulous, the midwife remained positive but did not sugar coat things at all. I feel very positive and informed about birth and the first 4 weeks. Another thing she mentioned that made a lot of sense is people who have bad birth experiences tend to dwell on them and are willing to diverge all the horrible details in an "effort to prepare you for the worst", she said most people have a good experience and an even better experience if they approach it with a positive mindset. I'm not fooling myself into thinking that it's all going to be a walk in the park, but I'm certainly not going to start being negative before I know how I'll cope and react. Maybe its just me being my normal happy-go-lucky self, but I'm quite relaxed and at ease about how the next few months will pan out. There are so many support networks out there(midwives, health visitors, partner, family, friends, online forums) that even if things don't go to plan there is always someone that can help.Wins 2015:

Morning all,
Not managed to read back since I last posted, will try to later.
After a wonderful sleep last night (Sunday) I just cannot settle tonight
Baby is still happy where he is, no twinges at all or anything else since I lost the plug yesterday though he is still moving so I'm sure he's fine, just not wanting to leave.
Going to the midwife at 10:15 for another sweep so hoping that'll kick things off but not until late afternoon as my OH cannot get home before 6pm.
Despite baby being planned and me being 40+4 it still feels like a kind of abstract concept that soon there'll be a babyLike others have said, there's that slight worry of 'what will we do!' but I'm pretty sure that once he arrives we'll work it out and it'll be fine
My mum's been great, it's reassuring having her here while my OH is away plus today she's cleaned the bathroom, stairs and hallwayI do keep telling her she doesn't have to and I'm just happy she's here but it's something she wants to do. Also taught her how to make jam this afternoon using the last of last year's damsons - we got a HUGE bumper crop last year so despite giving away 10kg to family/neighbours/friends and making jam out of 3kgs plus a few cakes we still had almost a Kg sat in the freezer. As my mum mentioned last week she'd finished all the jam I'd given her I thought it'd be a nice thing to do together
Will see how it tastes for breakfast
Right, I've had the rest of the doritos which were left after dinner (Had chilli) and the rest of the dairy milk chocolate left over from making rocky road bars last week and baby seems to have settled so hopefully I can get some sleep
Goodnight/morning
Labour vibes to everyone wanting them, hugs to those who want/need them.0 -

Hi ladies, haven't had a chance to read back but will do in a bit.
Thanks for all good luck wishes before my appointment yesterday. The good news is that baby is doing absolutely fine - currently looking like will be a 8lb-er! However the scan showed I had lost some waters, apparently there should be 10cm around baby and currently there is only 4cm. I really don't recall loosing the waters myself but consultant feels it may be due to high blood presure. I will have another scan in a week and if it is still the same, I will be induced.
However things may be starting sooner than that as blood pressure still isnt being controlled and was in hospital 12pm til 7pm yesterday. I am back today having had medication increased but if that hasn't worked I will be admitted to the ward with induction likely by the end of the week! I can't believe how things have changed so much in last few days but feel very well supported and mointored
I shall obviously keep you all updated - this board has been such a fantastic support and I would be lost without itWill have a quick catch up now xxx
