Fluffnutter i love your cot, makes me feel unorganised, i havnt even started looking at anything, though i couldnt resist a little babygro i saw yesty and just had to order it. Is there a list anywhere of the basics you will need? If i can help it i would like to avoid having to panic buy in 4months time.
You're not disorganised. It's just the difference between having four months to go (you) and two weeks (me)!
Your baby will need, essentially, somewhere to sleep, some method of transport, some nappies, some clothes and some food. Everything else is useful but not essential.
The baby will need:
Carseat (mandatory if travelling by car)
Pram/pushchair type thing
Cot/cotbed/moses basket
Sheets and blankets (I have two mattress protectors, 4 sheets and two cotton cellular blankets)
Sleepsuits (I have 12, half in newborn, half in 0 - 3)
Vests (ditto above)
Your baby will need extra clothes but you can buy these after its born
Nappies (I have 54 Pampers Size 1 - I will try various other makes/sizes once it's born)
Cotton wool (pads not balls)
If you're planning on bottle feeding you'll need bottles, formula and a steriliser. Even if planning on breast feeding, you'll probably want a pump, bottles and steriliser (I'm going to wait and see when I need these).
For you you'll need:
Maternity pads
Nipple cream/nipple pads
Some nightwear that allows access to your boobs
Nursing bra (get this fitted in the last two weeks)
Other things you might find useful include baby monitors, wipes, baby bath, top and tail bowl, changing bag, changing mat, sudocrem.
TBH, you can go mad on baby stuff. That's part of the fun!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
i found primark great for supportive vest tops and zip up hoodies, perfect for learning to breastfeed and easy access to the equipment, altho to be fair when at home without guests you will probably just spend a lot of time with one boob hanging out for the first little while!0

Thanks for this - I have been having kittens at the price of nursing bras and they are horrible! I reckon it would put monkey off breastfeeding for life looking at them

OH asked what was wrong and gave me a cuddle but told me to stop crying about it because he is fine, but I could tell he was really flatered that I think he is so amazing.
Sounds like he's gonna be a great daddy
Well I've just cleaned the inside of the dishwasher...with a toothbrush!:rotfl: Also wiped down all the cupboard doors and tiles. I hate cleaning normally, hormones are weird. Have got my eye on the fridge still, thought I'd come on here for a bit first though (with a cup of tea and some cake, obviously!).

Thanks BB I think he will be! He lost his own Daddy so young that he hasn't really grown up with a fatherly influence but it just makes him more determined that he will do everything he can for his child to be great xx:jBaby Boy born December 20120

Morning all! Well afternoon!
Feeling a bit sad. Just seen my mum off on the train home, she's stayed for the last two weeks. That's a long time for us to be under the same roof without a fight, but it went well and nobody murdered anyone lol. My friend is coming over soon for tea....which also means CAKE!!!!!!
Triangle glad it went ok yday. Hope your BP behaves today. It seems to have happened quick, but glad you're feeling well looked after

I have SPD from hell at the moment and spent all day yesterday lying on my bed as moving too much just wasnt going to happen, I also had palpatations which were driving me crazy,
I have a GTT test tomorrow, just wanted to ask if anyone here has had one and if I need to be aware of anything ? Its a pain as I have to go in at 9:30, then back an hour later then another hour after that. So im fasting over night and most of the morning, not good when preggers, walking to and from Dr's - also not good and will take me the best part of half an hour to do anyway and to top it all off I have to drink Lucozade *barf* and be stabbed with a needle. I bought some very early on in pregnancy as my boobs went bigger and tender, and I figured they'd keep growing (they then shrunk a bit more but are growing again now!). I bought them from Bras4Mums and they have a good range of ones that don't look too horrible (I got a Lorna Drew Astrid, and a reddish one which I can't remember the name of); and I also got a pretty cheap one which is simply stretchy - it's probably not great in the looks department but is so comfy (wearing it today) and was only £10 IIRC. Might not be great if your boobs are really big but apparently fits all sizes!

Afternoon ladies!
Well I thought it was all systems go last night! Starting having very strong braxton hicks type contractions from 7.30pm, they were very uncomfortable but not painful. After every one, I had a sharp pain really low down in my cervix, and a bit of back ache. They were every 10 minutes for about 1.5 hours......OH started getting excited, so I text my best friend who had her LO 6 months ago and she got all excited and said thats how her contractions started!
Then they tailed off a bit, and were more like every 20 minutes. Then every 30 mins. Got to 10.30pm and they had calmed down a bit so we went to bed, thought I'd get some rest just incase. And as soon as I laid down in bed, they stopped! Haven't had anything since!
When I googled it, it sounds pretty normal. Might have been false labour? Still, I got SO excited, and OH was grinning like a cheshire cat, I really cannot wait now!! I want it to happen!!
Hope everyone is ok? All this talk of cake has got me wanting some! All I've got are fruit pastilles and strawberries.....might chuck them in a bowl together and see how that goes!
I got a great deal on nursing bras at a M&S discount outlet, the one in Lakeside retail park, don't think any of you live my way though! 2 for £18, they're great.
mummyoftwo I second that about vests from Primark, I just wouldn't be seen dead in a nightie, not that I should be so fashion conscious when in labour but I prefer a vest and pj bottoms. Vests can be pulled down to breast feed easy!Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference0 -
Mishka, my GTT test was surprisingly ok! Sounds the same as yours. Went straight in, had a blood test, drunk the glucose drink, waited an hour had another blood test then waited another hour and had another blood test. The only thing I hated was I wasn't allowed anything to drink in between, not even water as it could affect the readings. And the hanging around at the hospital but it was only for 2 hours, sounds worse than what it was.
Make sure you take some magazines or a book!
I got a large Big Mac meal as soon as I came outx
