Ooh happy due date turtlemoose! Sounds like things might happen for you very soon too :)

DH has the day off work today, so whilst there's lots of diy jobs for him to do, we're also going to go out for a nice lunch together - got to make the most of our remaining couple time...! Carpet fitter coming later too and I'm so excited! :)

Hope you all have a lovely day!

    Happy due date turtlemoose

I had a crap night's sleep. I came to bed reasonably early as I couldn't get comfy downstairs but the pain under my bump just made it so difficult to get into any reasonably comfortable position. Everytime I needed to turn over it hurt too. It feels a lot better than last night (struggled to even lift my right leg when sat on the sofa!) but it's still sore. Ligament pain is not my friend and neither I've decided, is excercise!

    xx

Hugs for all who are in pain today, who didn't sleep well, or who are still getting morning sickness.

    Happy due date to turtlemoose!

Not a lot to report here today - don't appear to have work this moring, which I'm quite relieved about as I'm a bit tired this morning too, and I want to try and get a little bit of housework done today before I'm too tired, as I've got a busy few days ahead (course for the next 2 days involves 2 hours driving each day, babysitting on Saturday night too).

I'm loving the fact that it is overcast today and feeling much cooler. Our cat is also sat out in the flowerbed appreciating the coolness this morning - as Moon put it this morning he's a feline border guard. lol

Well I'm off for my shower now. Labour vibes where appropriate.

Sorry emsbet. I appeared to pas my sleeping nasty on to you. I slept like an absolute log last night. Was me that mentioned restless legs I got it pre pregnancy. Realised why it been so bad past couple of days tho. As I'm hitting eek 29 weeks today I been a bit more lax re caffeine And had a couple of glasses of coke to cool me down in this mad heat! Apparently caffeine is a big no no for restless legs. I also find if I'm dehydrated it makes it worse. Once it starts tho I'm screwed
love you lots like jelly tots :o

    Congrats Hannah!

Has anyone else had leg pain? I get recurring pain in my legs, it seems to alternate and often starts with cramp in the morning but turns into what feels like a pulled muscle in my calf so I end up hobbling around! At the moment it's my right leg that's sore. I was worried a few weeks ago as my leg was so sore but I Googled it and the info said as long as it's not swollen, red or hot to the touch then it's just normal pregnancy leg pain probably caused by the baby being on a nerve. One of my friends died 3 years ago from a pulmonary embolism (it started in her leg and she had pain - she was only 27) but I think it was more severe pain than I've had - I've got a work colleague who had a blood clot and she said you know when you have one as it's really painful. So I am relieved but I think it's just as well to be aware of these things.

Basically I just need to do that darn pregnancy yoga DVD as it would help prevent the leg pain I think, but as I'm still working full-time I feel pressed for time. Swimming was great on Sunday so I might try and do that a bit more. I finish work in just over 4 weeks though so am hoping baby holds on for a while to give me a break and a chance to relax. Anyone else finding it hard to fit in any kind of exercise?

Sleep is another thing. Before I was pregnant I woke up a few times in the night, now it's about every 2 hours or more for no apparent reason. I always get back to sleep (well apart from this morning) but I'm trying to think of it as good preparation for all those sleepless nights to come!

Second NHS antenatal class tomorrow - the last one was very good so looking forward to it. At least it shouldn't be so hot in the room this time so I won't feel like falling asleep :)

AMC, my pilates instructor has taught me an exercise to use later in pregnancy:

Lie on your back with knees bent, and then lift one leg up (knee fold position). Flex your foot and press the leg away, then point your toes (like you're picking a cherry with them) and pull your leg back towards you to the starting position. (bit like pedalling a bike)
Repeat 10 times for each leg, whenever you have time! This is supposed to get the pumps in your calves working to improve circulation and help with puffiness and cramps

    Morning all :)

I'm exhausted today, even though I slept pretty well (I thought) and only got up once for the loo :( ended up being really late for work so will have to stay later this evening which will make it a rush to get to pilates on time, boo!

We took our first bump picture last night, although I still can't distinguish the bump from my tummy fat :o DH says it's a different shape though, and hopefully when we take another one I'll be able to see a real difference.

Happy due date turtlemoose :) Labour vibes for you and anyone else who wants them.

Twinklie, glad your appointment went well.

BB I hope your midwife gives you some answers, otherwise you need to push the hospital staff to tell you as there should be a policy of being open and informed consent - you cannot be said to have informed consent for monitoring if they haven't told you why you have to stay in hospital. They are probably doing what's best for you and your baby but they should tell you what's going on.
There's a long list of reasons why a hospital may refuse a water birth, usually due to a pre-existing condition in the mother or baby or complications experienced during pregnancy.

Hugs to emsbet and others who didn't sleep well. For the last ~16 weeks I've only been able to sleep on my left side because back/front are obviously out and if I lie on my right side I cannot breathe :( It gets quite uncomfortable and I turn in my sleep then wake up gasping. I NEED baby to engage so I can breath again.

More vomitting last night, still have no idea why. I don't appear to have a bug - feel generally OK apart from tired and headachy but that's mainly down to the heat and my temperature and BP are about perfect.

One load of washing done and out on the line - I do enjoy the summer :) And my tutor has very kindly granted me an extension for my coursework so I don't have to stress so much about that. Though I don't want it dragging on so I will try to get it finished today, it's just nice not to have to have it handed in by midday. I tried to finish yesterday but by 3pm I had a splitting headache, couldn't even cope with my OH being silly so went to bed.

What is everyone planning for the long weekend? For the sake of my OH's sanity he wanted to do something other than study but we don't want to go too far from the hospital just incase baby wants to make an appearance (don't want to land myself in another hospital after all the faff and planning at my local) and most of the people we know live quite far away so we'd feel mean inviting them over only to abandon them because I went into labour.
So we're going to my OH's parents on Sunday who are only 40 minutes up the road which 'should' be plenty of time to get back if required.
I doubt I'll go into labour but if we didn't have a plan you could almost guarantee that he'd turn up ;)

Have a good day everyone, I'm off to study before my head starts to feel like it's exploding again

Hey all, just wanted to say a massive thanks for all the messages of support! Starting to feel a bit better again, but I think cos the weather is so nice and I just feel huge and frumpy it's not helped! i am going to try and be more positive though, cos I know what a special little gift I will have at the end of it all so that's got to put a smile on my face!

Welcome to all the newbies - think there have been quite a few in the last day or so! I see that i am still hovering around the late fifties though, I seem to be so far down the list but I know that will soon chnage as today I am 25 weeks! eek!

AMC - I've been having aching legs when I wake up in the morning and last night I slept with a pillow between my legs and it really did make a difference! I also can't remember who said that they were waking up more frequently, but I have been like that since about 12 weeks! I wake up every time I need to turn over - I don't know if that's an inbuilt mechanism to make sure I don't roll onto my front and squish baby! I usually fall straight back off to sleep though so it doesn't affect me too much.

Emsbet I'm with you on the whole exercise thing! I used to be madly into it before I fell pregnant but now it's an effort to walk into town so doing the classes that I used to do is a big no-no! I know a lot of people who have carried out with their usual routines and have been running on the treadmill at eight months or doing step classes, but I really don't want to put LO at risk and the chances of injury and overheating are a lot higher! A journalist friend of mine (who's also pregnant) had a chat with a personal trainer who explained that as pregnant womens ligaments become looser they shouldn't do such high impact activities in any case and things like walking and swimming are much better - but they are still an effort! I get really out of breath doing the simplest of things! If I am really honest though, I think I actually quite like the fact that I have a reason to put my feet up and not drag myself off to the gym! Bring on the chocolate cake and ice-cream!

I have had this before, but not during pregnancy. I was reading Christine Hill's book last night and apparently it is quite common in pregnancy and the best thing to do is try to stretch it out. She did describe how to do it, not quite sure I've got it right though. It sounded like lowering yourself to the floor on a bent leg with your heel flat on the floor (might be worth you googling some more before you try though!). She also said some women can get prescribed magnesium and something else to help ease the cramps but it may or may not work!
