I'm receiving shared care - I have seen a consultant after all my scans (had 6) and my midwife the rest of the time. Other than getting a more detailed history taken and sorting out a detailed birth plan my appointments with the obstetrician haven't been any different to those I've had with my midwife.
I've handed in my assignmentStill glad I was granted an extension for a few days as it got submitted 2 hours after the official deadline but it's now over
Next one is due in August I think.
Spent the afternoon eating strawberries and reading a book in a cool breeze0 -
It depends what the reason is, ladymorticia. The year before i conceived I had LLETZ treatment (for abnormal cells on the cervix) and apparently there can be scarring which can, rarely, cause issues with the cervix during pregnancy and labour - so mine is because of that. However saying that, nobody has ever bothered to check for any scarring so i think its quite possibly a box ticking exercise rather than actually required.
Personally I dont like both the consultants ive seen, and take what they say with a pinch of salt, and then ask my midwife what she thinks about it and take it from there0 -
Thank you guys.
I'm seeing a consultant because I have severe M.E and will most likely need a C-Section. As far as I know that is the reason.2019 Wins

Oh turtle I had lletz but they don't seem to care. They whacked me
Under consultant care cOs of my latex allergy.love you lots like jelly tots0 -
Lol I think each primary care trust has their own criteria and a lot of it is just "going through the motions" because they have to meet their own (sometimes outdated or misjudged) guidelines.
ladymorticia from my experience, and as mrsmanda said above, at my appts they have only done urine sample, blood pressure, baby's heartbeat and fundal height - exactly what my midwife does....except my midwife manages to see me within ten mins of my alloted appointment time, whereas the hospital seems to be more like, wait an hour and ten mins, and then you might be seen sometime soon...and they wonder why my blood pressure is high lol
But with your case obviously there is a specific reason - I would just be comforted that they are keeping a close eye on you and bump, and you get a few bonus listens of the heartbeat that others dont get0 -
 evening all,
I'm just back from a funeral, we've been out since 11:30ish so it's been a long day.
I hope everyone is well. My ligaments seem to be feeling a lot better now too which is good, hopefully I can sleep better tonight.

Thanks kitten, it was a friend of DH's, he died very suddenly last week. It was very sad but there was such a big turn out for him it was lovely to see so many people cared.

May I join please? I'm 13 weeks with my second baby, due 6th December. I already have Henry who is 30 months so feel like an old timer! I work full time so the first trimester has been exhausting, but I feel like I am starting to bloom now
.
I am consultant led at the moment, because Henry was born by EMCS after a failed induction. I'm hoping to be passed back though as I think I would like a home VBAC . I'd definitely like a water birth this time too.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
