No she's über excited bout baby she talks to him every day and says she gonna be the best big sister ever. She's going to stay with him this weekend and I worry she will say the same to him. I found out his girlfriend is pregnant too but he hasn't told her or me yet. Jus worried she's gonna be very very unsettled with all these changes

And aren't Mr Whippy ice-creams not a good idea, since the way the ice cream is stored and whipped is not good for baby? Did I not read soft ice cream like that is on the "not to eat" list? Otherwise, my DW would have eaten three a day for the past week...

And for those of you in Norfolk, I have an extra special GRRRR coming your way. I went to UEA and have missed the county ever since I left... Lovely place, even if it is damn windy in winter...

Ooh, snap! What years were you there? And it's not 'damn windy in winter...', it's 'my face might fall off the wind is so biting' cold there. Still, good memories

I think that sort of ice cream may be on the not to eat list, but it changes every time I look at it (rare steak - now allowed, apparently), but I've taken an executive decision to ignore it. It's because of the risk of listeria poisoning, and given that the last major outbreak was in 2002 and caused by watermelon, I've decided the medical profession is talking out of their bottoms when it comes to advice on what to eat - because nowhere on their list does it say you shouldn't have watermelon, or indeed bagged salad which is the other main cause of listeria poisoning.

    *gets down off soapbox*

My scan went well. I may come and join the big girls' thread soon...

RJH, I'm sure she didn't mean anything by it. I used to say things like that to my mum when I was younger normally so I could get something.

Gemma, I got discharged today, my ankle had swollen up on one side and it was getting worse and worse, bp was high and midwife sent me to be assessed at the MAC, turned out I'd developed a blood clot so was kept in and given a doppler etc and now I'm on daily injections and have to go back in two weeks to see my consultant. x

I'd read that they'd changed their minds again and it wasn't safe after all as it doesn't kill enough bacteria *rolls eyes* As sa-ra-ra says they just can't make their minds up.

The photocopied bit of paper about healthy eating my MW gave me when I booked in said it was fine as long as the outside was properly seared. I just had a look on the NHS choices website and it reckons that the risk is because of toxoplasmosis which, if you've had cats or gardened without gloves on, you've probably been exposed to before now.

Mmmm steak. Before I got pregnant I ate mainly chicken and the odd bit of gammon, ham and bacon. Since getting pregnant my favourite place is the Butchers row in the local market, I love the smell of red meat, especially steak. l think you've got less risk of getting ill from a rare/medium-rare bit of steak than you have undercooked mince or burgers.

See, I'm the opposite. Used to love red meat, ate a reasonable amount of it, really liked rare (almost moo-ing) beef. Now I've completely gone off meat really, I move red meat around my plate, eat ham and pork under sufferance, tolerate chicken and love fish (which I liked before but not to this extent!).

I also used to avoid fruit and love my veg. Completely the opposite now, I've had pineapple and an apple today, but can't remember the last time I had any proper vegetables.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but hey I'm pregnant and doing silly things all the time

I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant and have been considering doing the NCT antenatal classes but cant seem to find out anything re: price. I've tried emailing them but not heard anything back. Just wondering if anyone has done them before and approx what they cost. I know areas will differ (I'm in Edinburgh) but its just to get a rough idea as I best get my skates on.

For some reason I think I have all the time in the world as I've not even chosen or ordered a pram yet

    Thanks in advance
    Jo
