Halifax £100 lure was a complete & utter waste of time for me

... even though I have had a Halifax Investment account and I am a current Intelligent Finance customer (owned by Royal Bank of Scotland - ie a division of this bank).
IF and Halifax are part of the same banking group as Bank of Scotland NOT Royal Bank Of Scotland which is an entirely different entity.0 -

finally got round to taking my Halifax card to a machine and was surprised to see the £100 in there   All this talk of taking the £100 back out of your account if you don't switch your salary is making me nervous though0

It's reassuring to see that my very poor experience at the hands of Halifax wasn't unique!
I already have a Halifax Easycash account for the Electron card and thought it would be easy to open the regular current account, switch and collect my £100. Unfortunately, a 'technical problem' led to no account being opened and an unhelpful / uninformative letter.
Following this letter I then went in to my local branch last Saturday hoping to be able to resolve the matter, I was greeted by an overly familiar pair of boys working the front desk who seemed to fancy themselves as something of a comedy double act. After establishing they had no appointments that day or through the following week, they wanted to know what I was doing this coming weekend that meant I couldn't make an appointment. I declined to share my social life with them and left empty handed.
After a number of phone calls I managed to make an appointment with the branch local to where I work; I ventured into town and into the branch where again I was disappointed to be told about this secret two direct debit requirement. I only have standing orders coming out of my salary account, the direct debits are paid from another bills account which I had no desire to switch. She was unwilling to budge on this despite there being no requirement for two direct debits mentioned in the leaflet she had in front of her.
As a last resort I then called their call centre only to be told that the Easycash Account disqualified me from benefiting from the offer (this is the first time anyone has mentioned this as a problem and I'm really not sure the Ts&Cs back them up). To be honest, at this point my treatment from Halifax meant I had no real desire to move my main current account to them. They seem to actually be worse than the bank I was moving from. I'm quite amazed at how consistently poor my experience was and I suspect I'll be telling people this for quite some time...0 -
Just a quick question - afaik Halifax can not 'switch' your salary for you, they can write to your employer with a mandate signed by you askign the employer to make the switch but they can not physically make the switch in the way they can with DDs.
And my supplementary - are they currently also offering £100 for existing inactive current account customers to switch their DDs/SOs (and credits) from another bank?I think....0 -
I just signed up to one of these accounts to get the free £100, I wasn't aware that there was a £10 charge a month for the reward account, so I have asked and after 30days I can downgrade the account so it is free, so £90/80 profit depending how many months they charge me. I can boost that by £5 if I transfer £1000 in.
So everyone with multiply reward accounts are paying £10 a/m, to make a £5 back, loosing £5 a month or are you on different accounts???

So I rang Halifax and they said yes you can also get £100 by switching to existing unused account so I went in to the branch where they said 'new customer s only'I think....0
